  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Next week will be our 3 year anniversary, we had initially planned to go to Adventure Land but decided against it due to the continuing pandemic. My wife was pretty disappointed but she didn’t want to take the risk. Anyways , today I was over at my sister in law’s to play a collectible card game with my wife’s younger brother and got to see my sister in law and her husband make hand pulled noodles.
It looked like they were having a lot of fun together stretching, pulling and twisting the dough together. It was magical and mesmerizing watching them take a hunk of dough and start pulling it between them, then doubling it back , pulling again and transforming that lump of dough into hundreds of thin strands of noodles.
I am from an Italian family and have massed pasta with my grand mother but that always involved using a pasta maker to cut it into strands. Watching them make these noodles was almost like watching two people play cats cradle. I asked them how they were doin that and they said that it’s actually really easy and that my wife knows how.
I was thinking that doing this would be a fun anniversary activity. We could do an entire made from scratch meal that we make together.

That's a wonderful idea! Ask her if she'd like to do it, and I hope it happens :)
Yep, she loves the idea. Her older sister and her husband suggested we go a little bit further but I don’t know if it is for me. After I told them how I thought what they were doing was a neat anniversary activity idea they bought us a live sow and a goose from a local farm. They said that if we really wanted to do a made from scratch meal we should butcher the meat together as well. They do this quite frequently and say that it is much better than buying meat from the store.
I know that there is nothing wrong with this but it still feels a little icky. Right now we have this pig and goose walking around in our and I am torn over if I really want to do the deed. The wife isn’t very squeamish but I am...

That is incredibly bizarre.
That's not normal behavior.
Sometimes I still wonder if this is a fake account, to be honest.
We live in the country. Where people do a lot of their own farming, hunting and stuff like that. I am a city transplant so I still am uncomfortable but most people around here it is perfectly normal.

That would be so much fun!
I mean not the butchering but the noodle thing. I’m too squeamish... I can dress a chicken but I can’t butcher.

If you do butcher the critters, please have someone experienced on hand to assist you in the most humane and healthy way to do it. Can be tricky for first timers, and you don't want to hurt the critters. I can see that for some people it seems like an odd idea, but it is also very satisfying to see a process through, and enjoyable to achieve a new skill with your partner.
