  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Full Scale War between Isreal and Hamas has broken out in the Gaza Strip.

Because everyone kows that Christians never go to war against Christians. (Want a list?)

Besides, this war has nothing to do with religion any longer. It is political.

Your example of Northern Ireland is not a counter-point to the need for the Peace of Christ. Protestantism was founded as a rejection of the Church of Christ. Luther completely understood Catholic doctrine and rejected it totally. The Protestant Revolution which resulted from this made war from the outset against the Church. Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Knox, Cranmer, et al hated the Catholic Church and dedicated their lives to eradicating 'Popery'. Enter the English, who for whatever reasons always had a compulsion towards ruling every square inch of the British Isles at bayonet point... after the Reformation they took up persecuting the native religion as well.

I know that you do not hate the Catholic Church or Catholics, otherwise I don't think you would stick around here. But the Protestant Revolution as a movement was founded in hatred of the Church and will continue to wage war against her ceaselessly, probably until the end of time. Thus it should be no wonder that there has been discord between Catholics and Protestants.

When I say that the only peace is the Peace of Christ in the Kingdom of Christ, that can only be exercise one way, through the Catholic Church. It is the divine society founded by Our Lord.

There is no way to peace for the Jews and Muslims in the Middle East. Only if they become brothers in Christ Jesus, for whom there is neither Jew nor Arab but one man in place of the two, then there can be peace.

My husband just returned from Israel over a month ago. He told me the bombing started while he was there. This has been going on for awhile. Reminds me of children fighting...

They have certainly scaled up a bit.. (that's sarcasm for sure!). Maybe I'm selfish, but I'm so glad my husband is NO LONGER there. sigh.

I hate wars... I hate that man can be so greedy and selfish
I hate that people hate eachother...
for what?

for greed? to prove a point?

Don't they see what they are doing?

that they are killing innocent people? destroying lives? homes....

the people growing up in that war ridden place will be scarred....

May God grant them the wisdom to find a peaceful solution to their problems

may they find love in Christ.

Original post deleted - baiting to argumentation

Read Pius XI's Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio. He was writing in the aftermath of the Great War, pointing out the futility of the proposed league of nations to create a lasting peace. The cause of all war is sin and the only remedy I know for sin is the grace which Jesus Christ obtained on the wood of the Cross.

The point I made, which you say you don't follow, is that Protestantism is a false religion. It is not the religion of Jesus Christ and thus it cannot bring His peace to the world. Likewise, Islam and Judaism are false religions. The only way Jews and Muslims know of dealing with their enemies is to liquidate them. That also is applicable to many jingoistic American-Nationalists.

Only Jesus and Mary can give us a true and lasting peace. How can we not believe this?

From whence are wars and contentions among you? Are they not hence, from your concupiscences, which war in your members? You covet, and have not: you kill and envy and cannot obtain. You contend and war, and you have not: because you ask not. You ask and receive not: because you ask amiss, that you may consume it on your concupiscences. Adulterers, know you not that the friendship of this world is the enemy of God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of this world becometh an enemy of God. James 4:1-4

The Arab media show that the Americans support Isreal , is that right ??

Isreal was provoked into action by Hezbolla's first and is continued to be provoked by Hezbolla and it's supporters. Isreal kept it's agreements but Hezbolla obviously doesn't keep any agreements but you most likily know that since you live in that part of the world.

What is the Eygptian press reporting about who Eygpt supports?

No. Hamas is the government of Palestine. Israel is a different country, Palestine's neighbour.

No, the Palestinian President is a member of Fatah. The majority in the legislature is from Hamas. The government in the area of the Palestinian Authority is one of co-habitation.
