  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

New to this particular forum (I'm usually in Discussion & Debate). Anyone else here watch Fullmetal Alchemist? It's my favorite anime (so far). I love the animation and I really like how it is both incredibly serious (death and such) and funny (general anime actions).

I think that's one of the reasons I got so hooked on it. It can be both tearfully sad and tearfully funny in the same episode. The story is really unique too, it seems, and I like that as well. There are some twists and turns that I never really see coming, and I sometimes wish I could watch the episode over again to try and catch how something happened. :)

It's a really good show, and I've gotten into it far more than I've gotten into other animes in the past. But then again, I just recently got back into watching anime within the last two years or so. I'm guessing I've missed out on quite a few other really good ones... ;)

I think my favorite character might be Al, but Ed runs a close second. Sad that I like the main characters, isn't it?...I feel kinda lame. But on another website there were these girls drooling over pics of Ed and talking constantly about how drop-dead hot he was. I just couldn't see it...or any anime character that way I guess. *shrug*

The show has so much to do with life. I've watched the entire series and I've learned so much from it. From happy moments that made you laugh so hard, to moments where even I cried, this has to be one of the best anime serieses ever made.

I don't care what happened in there, Maes Hughes will always be my favorite. He was a true man, who put his family and his duty above all else.

My favorite character is Scar. He may seem evil, but he is avenging the atrocities that were done to his people. Also, I guess it would be cool to be able to destroy stuff by touching it. Plus I the tattoo is awesome!
I hate that Hughes kicked the bucket, he was my third fav character (Ed is my 2nd).

I have heard that they have 52 shows but they are working on more can anyone tell me this is the case.

It's 51 episodes and a movie. Haven't seen the movie yet, it came out not too long ago in Japan.

Scar pwnz, 'nuff said. Poor guy, after you see all he and his people have been through, you can understand his desire for revenge.

I was going to start a thread for FMA i'm glad someone beat me to it though.

anyway I love FMA, ever since I watched with my brother a few months ago. Before it had even gotten to the US I was hooked.
To tell you the truth the show saved my life, I was going through a tough time and I was thinking of suicide and then I watched the episode where hughes dies and his daughter is telling her mother to stop burying hime because he said he had a lot of work to do. I bawled my eyes out (so did my 27 year old brother, but that's not the point) after that i realized that me dying would hurt alot of people.
So this show is my absolute favorite out there (other than gravitation) not only because of the story, but because it really spoke to me.

FMA is awesome. It's very character driven, just absolutely wonderful to see their struggles and how they overcome them. You can learn a lot about life from this anime, it just has so many great themes.

there's one bad point though: the producers forgot that Alu already got thrown into water in one of the earlier episodes, so the 'fact' of the characters screaming over Alu's bloodseal being washed away in the later episodes just doesn't make sense.

It really is such an amazing story. It moves beautifully, with so many profound themes, and with the prefect balance of action, drama, and comedy.

/me chses Ed with a gallon of milk

YOU'LL NEVER GET TALLER IF YOU DON'T DRINK YOUR MILK!!!!!!

"NO, I HATE MILK, YOU KNOW THAT!!!"

I've only played the game FMA2: Curse of the Crimson Elixer. It was....weird, to say the least. I'm not a huge fan because of the language, but I do agree, it was hilariously funny, and tearjearkingly sad at the same time. Sad what happened to their mom....they loved her so much, they were willing to sacrifice themselves to bring her back.....:(.

hmms, I'm not a big fan of the games...but yes, what happened to their mom was heartbreaking....this was the first anime i ever watched to make me cry aloud ehehe...

if Ed drinks milk and grows, he won't be a little bean anymore! XD and then he won't be nearly as cute =3

but then Roy would have to find something else to make fun of him about XD

Coming from the point of view of a bio major, I find that FMA does a istellar job of representing the balance of science and religion. when one becomes so wrapped up in one point of view to the point of leaving no other space in thier lives for the other tragidy is bound to follow.

=3 does anyone here read the manga?

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII ddddddoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

FMA is awesome, awesome, AWESOME!!! The only thing I don't like so much is that I watch it on Adult Swim and the new episodes are on Saturday night. So I go to sleep fairly late and have church Sunday morning, when all I can think of is that show and InuYasha. One of these days, my priest is going to get curious about why I keep putting my hands together (trying to be like Ed)... >>

I loooooooove Edward, he is SO short, I bet he could be shorter than me! Yay!!! :D

And Roy is great. Great, great, great. So was Maes Hughes.

ALL HAIL HIROMU ARAKAWA!!!!!
