In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok, I have a windows xp pro system here and I have a program called Farstone Virtual Drive, it creates images of cd's and stores them on the hard drive so you don't have to put the cd's in and out all the time and it makes virtual cd-rom drive letters for the files to be inserted into....well here is my situation, I have a hard drive that I want to fill full of these files, but when the drive is full I keep getting the little prompt telling me the drive is full and the stupid pop up ballons and it's annoying....is there a way to turn something off so that windows won't tell me the drive is almost full anymore?

No..I highly recommend you get rid of those virtual drives, because they cause more problems then help....they may help wtih yoru disk....but there are ways to help protect your cds better....you need to start clearning your hard drive out. I keep both of my hard drives at half full...that helps with running my games, and programs for web designs etc.

There isn't a question of getting rid of them or not, I am keeping the virtual cd's, I have never had any problems with using it, I've just come to a point that I am loading more things onto my system and the drive I have with the VCD's is down to 26.5mb of free space on it and I get the prompts telling me the drive is full and I know the drive is full, I filled it up that full since I don't put anything else on it and so I could have more room on the other drive......I just need to know how to make windows stop telling me the drive I have them stored on is full all the time.....

It won't your drive is full...it will keep telling you until its at least a quarter left.
that is such a pain :( I use the virtual drive so I don't have to carry the cd's around to each computer on my home network, I have the virtual drive program on each system and it draws the virtual cd through the network and it's still faster than using the cd in the drive....(200x is how fast the virtual cd reads off the hard drive, up to 5 times faster than my cd-roms can)

Beat me to it. ;) How does Virtual Drive work on games?

BTW, why don't you buy a bigger HDD? 120GB's are pretty cheap now.
I don't need another hard drive, I just wanted to keep all the virtual cd's on one drive alone and I can do that, but I only have 26.5mb left on the drive when I have all the VCD's on that drive. I have internal and external hard drives here, but what's the point of having a big hard drive when u can't use the whole thing? I have always used Virtual drive for everything, especially when it takes me from say a standard 52x cd rom to something that does it at 200x...I don't do games, but I noticed when I was looking at the farstone site that they listed a Game Drive and it does the same thing as the Virtual drive does..... I've seen virtual drive at Comp USA if you want to check it out, they might even have the "Game Drive" software there also....I use Virtual drive for my encyclopedias, graphic cd's, and many other things, but my favorite, Oregon Trail (lol).....here is a link to farstones site....

I'm looking at the "Virtual Drive 7" and "Game Drive" and the only difference I see is that "Game Drive" has a liveupdate thing so that new games will work with it and "Virtual Drive" doesn't.....Also, "Game Drive" appears to be just for games and "Virtual Drive" is for games and audio, and dvd's, and you can create your own customized VCD's up to I believe 2gig in size (this is what I did with my oregon trail, it had 3 cd's and instead of switching the cd's around using virutal drive, I just combined them all into 1 virtual cd, taking up about 1.4gig)......

Virtual Drives suck......I would not recommend them for games especially if you have to patch your games.
You are not patching the games, all the patchs do is allow the cd to be copied on the hard drive because of all the encodinging to discourage copying cd's.....I don't knwo what program you have used in the past, but this one works great....

ok, u've put your 2 cents in that you don't like virtual drives so now you can now please drop it....

I have no problems, never have...and people I know that use it don't have any problems with it....I've been using virtual drive 2.0, 6.0, and now 7.0 for about 9 years now and I've never had a problem with it with windows 95, 98, me, 2k, or XP.....

Have u ever used this specific program, Virtual Drive before (either when it was by Norton or now by Farstone?)???

Ok, we are on totally different pages here.....what you had/have is not what the Farstone Virtual Drive does......it is not a cd burning program.....What it does is it copys the cd onto the hard drive into a *.vcd image file and then the program allows you to set how many virtual drive letters you want (up to 23)....On this system I have C, D, E, Y (Y is where all my .vcd images are) as my hard drives, A is my floppy, Z is my Zip drive, Q is my CD-Rom, R & S are my cd-rw drives.....but as my virtual drives I have G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P.....All I do is using the virtual drive manager on the taskbar to insert a cd into one of those drives by right clicking on the Icon and then going to Insert, then to the drive I want to insert and then a menu pops out asking what cd I want to insert and just like that the computer thinks the CD is in one of the cd rom drives......This program is so that you can swap cd's around without using the actuall cd's all the time and so you can have more than 1-2 cd roms going at one time....(right now I have Printermaster, Encarta, and a graphics cd loaded in my virtual drives while the actuall cd's are locked safely in my safe, I wouldn't be able to run all those programs at once without have 3 cd-roms installed)...
