FULL Dillusion

“And the Lord is the Spirit. And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, behold as in a mirror the Glory of the Lord and are being transformed into that image. Glory to Glory, as from the Lord, the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Let's think about a "veiled face", as opposed to the above "unveiled face", as I try to describe it below:

PROBLEM = A fallen human nature has created a need for the human species to develop an internal dialogue in its mind .................. yes, the mind talking to ITSELF, as it slowly more and more fixates on self-importance and its obsession with the world and its things ............... putting each humans' agenda into a state of full self-obsorbtion and unparalled idolization of self awareness. BIG SENTENCE, HUH? But, stay with me here; thusly the Earths' humans, enmasse, stop letting God be God because that would imply to the human mind of its own self-defeat ................. and, through this long-term act of self-deluding, the species functionally ends up being enslaved by its own self-gratification, allowing satan to build subtle, yet very imbedded, strongholds within the human pschii, which were obtained through their denying that God, through their very actions, is not God at all, but that they are! Another BIG sentence, huh.

SOLUTION = An eternal freedom from the prison of self-glorification has been offered BY GOD, for fallen humans, so that the dillusion described above can be replaced by Divine Truth, which comes from submitting to the enlightenment found in the Holy Bible, because the Word therein causes the human to step aside from its self-imposed strongholds of lostness, which cause humans to want, through satan's direction, to convince themselves that their self-importance is actually real.

Did any of that make any sense at all?

This post is directed towards the Biblical fact that the humankind hide from God by not being totally honest TO Him, thusly placing a veil or mask upon itself. This veil of dishonesty is the barrier placed between the human and God, BY the human, because the human is afraid that it's shameful ways will be exposed to God.

And, logically and again Biblically, the human can step aside from this dillusion by submitting to God the Father by telling God all about itself. Also very logically, the All-Knowing God already knows all about the human but wants the human to admit it, thusly allowing God's Grace to intervene through the human beings' acknowledging that Jesus is their Savior and Lord.

Dear God, help me face my ego and all its trappings. Help me see how I have been dilluding myself by keeping my attention ONLY upon the things of the world and my stupid human pride. I can only find Eternal Peace through YOU, my Lord, but my heart is darkened and my mind frivolous in its' thinking that it is a god and not You. Save me, Father, for I am lost. Humble me and my fellow Believers, if that is Your Will. Amen.

Tommy, in addition to the truths you share here, there is a far deeper meaning of the "un-veiled" face.

When Moses went up to Mount Sinai to talk face to face to God, when he came back, all were afraid of him because his face glowed before it faded back to normal. He thus put a veil on his face to be able to talk to the people. You can read this is Exodus 34.

Then in the letter of Paul to the Corinthians, Paul says this:

We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from gazing at it while the radiance was fading away. But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts.

But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflecta the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:12-18

We are told here that unlike the glory of the law, which was for a season, with its glory fading away, the new covenant of grace that replaced it offers ever increasing glory to us who embrace it.

How many there are still who have not had the veil taken away from their understanding, and try to serve God by obedience to rules that we can never fulfill. They end up serving God in Romans 7, where the things they want to do, they cannot do.

Praise God, we serve Him through the gift of a new nature and as we behold him, the glory that reflects back to us changes us in an ever increasing way, changing us into the image of the Son of God.

I don't know what the matter of the veiled/unveiled face, as it is spoken of in the passage from which your verse is taken, has to do with what you've said in your post. Really, your comments are completely unrelated to what the verse in context is speaking to. Consequently, I don't see why you've used 2 Corinthians 3:17 as the basis for your comments.

Don't get me wrong: I agree with you that we tend to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think. I also agree that being honest about ourselves is vital to walking with God; but you've just snatched the phrase "unveiled face" from the verse in 2 Corinthians 3, completely divorcing it from the meaning it has in the verse and from the immediate context of the verse. This is not a good way to handle Scripture. Lifting phrases from verses like you have is one of the steps cult leaders use to "wrest Scripture" and pervert it's meaning. Be very, very careful with God's Word, brother.

Bruce is dealing with the verse in a manner you would do well to emulate.
