I just had this idea come to me as we approach Easter. How about finding scriptures that speak of the Messiah, Jesus Christ coming into the world...pinpointing, helping identify who the real Jesus IS.

We could also find the prophecies yet to be fulfilled that "identify Him"

And all the personal comments we are led to share as the Lord leads.

My first verse:

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign:
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel..

Isaiah 7:14
Luke 1:26-31

angelwind what a wonderful idea!

Verses throughout Psalms prophecy of Christ...here are some examples...

Psalm 2 is titled The Messiah's Triumph and Kingdom!

Psalm 16 is titled The Hope of the Faithful and the Messiah's Victory!
Psalm 22 is titled The Suffering, Praise, and Prosterity of the Messiah!

Psalm 22:1-2 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

Psalm 34:20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

Psalm 35:10-11 All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him? False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

Psalm 69:7-9, 19-21 Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face. I have become a stranger to my brothers, and an alien to my mother's children; because zeal for Your house has eaten me up, and the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me...You know my reproach, my shame, and my dishonor; my adversaries are all before You. Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness; I looked for someone to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. They also gave me gall for my food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

There are different kinds of prophecy in Christ, one of them is the bloodline. The Messiah had to be the 'seed' of Abraham.

"Brothers, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covnant that has been duly established, so it is in this case. The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture deos no say "and to seeds' meaning many people, but "and to your seed" meaning one person who is Christ" (Galations 3:15-16; Gen. 12:7; 13:15; 24:7)

I think the line goes; seed of Abraham, tribe of Judah, root of Jesse, son of David. That is why the geneology is so important, the linage had to be established. God had promised David that his household would be established forever, there was a point were that was literally threatened. Athaliah tried to destroy the entire royal line but the High Priest hid one of the princes in the Temple. At six years old he was installed at king by the priesthood and Jehoiada (the High priest) effectivly ruled Judea until his death. He was the only High Priest to be buried in the valley of the kings which was like a royal graveyard. ( 2Sam 7:11; 2Kings 11, 12)

The proof for the fullfilment is found in the opening verses of Matthew "A record of the geneology of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham" (Matt 1:1)

That is actually a lot more prophecy fullfilled in the one verse then you may fully appreciate from a cursory glance.

Grace and peace,
Mark

"And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.."
Gen. #:15

"But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law."

Gal. 4:4

A friend of mine pointed this out to me...this truth about God and His word. He can speak of a thing...a promise...and tho it takes many years..."in the fullness of time" the word...His word is accomplished.

I can look behind and ahead...trusting on the surety of His word and will.
