  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

:sigh:

My second daughter has albinism and some other issues. She is now the big sister to a 2 1/2 month old who we believe has albinism as well. Dh and I have no problems with this and dont view it as a life sentence. Well, I mentioned it to my parents and my dad actually said well you better stop at 3:o

I was shocked, I didn't understand why he would say something like that. We want more children and I couldn't imagine not having any more just because they might have albinism.

Has anyone else gone through this? What should I have said to him. I just stood there with my mouth hung open and couldn't speak. ARGh my family can frustrate me sometimes.

If he is Christian, you can always say something like:

"Why, they are Godly made as is his plan--isn't it presumptious to second guess his plans for both them, and myself?"

If he is not Christian--let me know....I have been know to come up with some pretty good zinger come back that leave the ignorant party with their mouths open instead!!

Ignorant relatives just seem to come out of the woodwork when a special child is born--you are not alone...if I have to hear one more time "why don't you just get her fixed" I think my head will implode/explode--or just spin around 360 degrees!! My daughter will have to undergo several brain surgeries....she does NOT need to be "fixed" as though she has a flat tire!!

Oh well, you are not alone....if that is any consolation.

No he is not christian, actually I saw him in a church for the first time in my life today b/c we had our girls dedicated.

It is just frustrating that they think b/c they aren't "perfect" then you should stop. Yes my child has albinism and sensory integration dysfuntion but that isn't who she is. She is a sweet, loving, adorable little girl and I don't care if I end up with 10 more just like her. It is time consuming with her therapy but that is time we get together and even her older sister helps out.

I just don't understand why people say oh you should stop or you are really going to have more even though they might have her issues. ARGHHHHH:mad:

Sorry I just get frustrated everything I think of this

Hang in there...family can be very frustrating and it goes both ways.

My family doesn't believe anything is "wrong" they don't understand why I did therapy and now that my son is thriving and fitting it well with his peers I get the "see I told you there was nothing wrong".

The main thing is, can you look yourself in the mirror and know you are doing the best thing for your kids. If you can...then who cares what anyone says.

 God Bless!
