As a drummer, I like to be challenged. While AC/DC has some good songs, they are so simple that it is mind numbing. My early influences were Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Queensryche, Skidrow...and all the hair bands of the 80s like Bon Jovi and Warrant.

Dream Theater and Savatage became inspirational bands in my 20s, and helped bring my musicianship to a new level.

I now listen to bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Five Finger Death Punch, Skillet, Red and others. I do not have a problem with being a Christian and listening to what I do. God gave me the talent of music (drums) and I use it to the best of my abilities.

I like high energy songs, so the old school choir hymns just don't do it for me (although Amazing Grace on bagpipes is awesome).

Classical! I love the old school composers and all that they did for music. I was in symphonic band (and jazz band, marching band, drum corp) in high school, and those were some good times.

Country from the late 80s and early 90s (think Garth Brooks).

Classic Rock like the Eagles, Journey, etc.

Patriotic songs like Battle Hymn of the Republic, and half of all songs Lee Greenwood ever did.

As far as bands that claim to be Christian, the usual list...
Skillet
Switchfoot
Thousand Foot Krutch
Casting Crowns
Red
