I was just wondering what processes I might need to go through to become a member at a PCA church. Would I need to be re-baptised if my SBC church baptized me? Does it matter if I'm 17 and my parents are still at the SBC church? I would just like some insight on what the process is to join this local church. Thanks!

You would not have to be baptized, Presbyterians believe in only one baptism. If you have been baptized in a SBC then that baptism is valid. Your would most like take a membership class (this might vary from church to church) and then would become a member when you take membership vows in front of the congregation.

As far as your question about being 17. If your parents were OK with it then there should be no problem if they do not I am not sure but in that case I recommend talking with the Pastor or Elders at the Church you would be joining. There is a Presbyterian Forum on here were many PCA members frequent. They may be able to tell you more, as I am new to the PCA myself.

Howdy brother!

I attend a PCA church and as Nova says, no, you wouldn't need to be re-baptized (as the creed says, "one baptism for the forgiveness of sins"). I'm not sure what age you have to be to become an "official member," but the communion table is open to all repentant sinners who confess the Christ as described in the ancient creeds and who examine themselves.

As for what you need to do, just ask the pastor or one of the elders (or even deacons) that you're interested in joining the church. They'll tell you the rest. :)

God bless brother and peace be with you!
