John 15:14 You are My friends IF you do whatever I command you.
No one is "called" a friend. We are called to be servants.
The disciples became the Lord's friend by faithfulness.
Luke 22:28 But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials.

66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.
67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”
68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life.
A faithful servant, over time, becomes the King's friend.
John 15:15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know
what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that
I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
Proverbs 22:11 He that loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips
the king shall be his friend.
Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
1 Kings 10:8 Happy are your men and happy are these your servants,
who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!
This is to abide, and overcome
1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the
Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord
except by the Holy Spirit.
Revelation 3:21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne,
as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
No one is "given" friendship with the King. It is a reward of faithfulness.
Luke 17:10 So likewise you, when you have done all those things which
you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants.
We have done what was our duty to do.’
Luke 12:37 Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes,
will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have
them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.
Romans 2:
6 who will render to each one according to his deeds,
7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good
seek for glory, honor, and immortality.
Psalms 58:11 So that men will say,
“Surely there is a reward for the righteous;
Surely He is God who judges in the earth.”
