  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I started a recent friendship and enjoyable at first. Yet now Im seeing some unhealthy christian ways on her behalf that I dont know how to tolerate or if I should. They are not all the time. Should I try to be a good friend and strong Christian and hopefully a positive influence. Or should I partways since shes is not being a good wife, mother, friend, nor influence as temptation and bad behavior (that she tries to justify and continues, no remorse) seems to come with her. I dont want to run when I see someone so off and judge and be done with her - yet I dont want it to hurt me and tempt me - I dont know if Im strong enough yet to handle a bad influence without handling it wrong. What would you do is leaving the friendship:

Leaving temptation so I can work on being a stronger Christian?

or is it

Abandoning a sister that God may want me to help guide and running when the goin gets tough?

Very tough question. I think in honesty you must do a little bit of both. Keep a watchful eye out for her and try not to be too influenced or too burdened by her lifestyle and yet try to help her better herself. It's obvious that you care for her and that you truly do love her so hopefully she will feel that and allow you to help correct her bad points.

Dear TryinHarder

GOD'S WORD is very specific in this issue:

" 2 Timothy 2:22

"Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." "

This should cause sirens to go off:

" shes is not being a good wife, mother, friend, nor influence as temptation and bad behavior (that she tries to justify and continues, no remorse) seems to come with her. "

EVEN IN THIS REMEMBER:

X Even though you can't see him, GOD is there!!! O

I had to think about that.

But it says to flee desires not sinners. Arent we to set an example - how can we if we avoid those who need teaching and/or the examples? How can we lead without anyone to follow us? Obviously I would have to avoid any situation which promotes her bad behavior and stick to family/playdates/and the like. Before she showed this side of her she was interested in visiting my church. If I can avoid or try to avoid this side of her and help the side that is seeking God shouldnt I or should I run for dear life lol from her period due to her the unchristian acts and injuries she bestows upon herself so not to get in the line of fire so to speak. If alls we do is avoid problematic people how can we help them find god? Im not trying to be argumentative just thinking aloud I appreciate any help on solving this predicament keep the thoughts coming. Im unfortuanelty not good at quoting scripture it is an area I need much work but Im sure theres something in the bible that says I what Im saying? Afterall Jesus helped a harlot even right?

Some people you just have to cut your ties though, we are to be examples but we are to take heed to ourselves too so WE don't get go down that road.

Yes Jesus helped a harlot. But we have to remember that Jesus knew "what was in men" and He walked by the spirit. We have to pray about who we help or if we should do so. Will it make us stumble somehow? Does this person really want my advice/help?

" But it says to flee desires not sinners. "

" I dont know if Im strong enough yet to handle a bad influence without handling it wrong. "

The last part of that verse says:

" along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." "

You have witnessed to her and now it's up to her.

Stand ready to help her if she turns to follow the LORD.

Read GOD'S WORD till the next time you read it you will already know what it's going to say for then it's locked in your heart. This will help you and others that need your help.

HAVE FAITH AND REMEMBER:

yeah God isn't saying we can't talk to them, he justs ays that we not hang out. You have done your job by telling her about God, like some have said it is now up to her. if you stay with her like Gum on a shoe, you will most liley leave the church like 95% of teens do
