• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When you have a trusted friend, they will listen and understand. Have you told a true friend about your intrusive thoughts, even one of us here, and received their understanding and compassion?

Jesus calls His disciples His friends (John 15:9-17). As Christians, we are Jesus' friends. How much more understanding and compassion, then, do we receive from our true Friend, Jesus Christ?

I get the feeling that God is using our ocd as a means of drawing us into a real relationship with Him, showing us that we do not have to be afraid of His judgement if we trust Him as a Friend....

HI Mark,
So true!! When I think of Christ as my friend there are two things about His friendship that stand out to me.
First, that He has actually borne/experienced all my griefs and sorrows and secondly that He is Faithful in His friendship.
So often I think that He is saying to me. Faith is not found in you Mitzi, but in all that I AM. This gives me great assurance that though I often lack faith toward Him, He helps my unbelief and has already completed the work that is necessary to make me His child forever. I always have to remind myself that even my faith is not about me but all about who He is to me. All sufficient for my every weakness!!!
Praised be HE!!

Well put. That is so helpful to be reminded that our faith is not from us but is a gift from God (Eph 2).

I think of the analogy when I used to "drive" a pickup truck while sitting on my dad's lap when I was very young. He did all the "necessary" work, didn't even need me, but it was his pleasure to have me play a part in it.

Amplify that analogy to our Heavenly Father and His role in our lives....kinda takes the pressure off. It would be nice to renew that "faith as a child," take the pressure off, and "drive." Marc

PS, God is in this OC (I'll leave off the D, because we are "fearfully and wonderfully made"). All of these discussions we've had, both in victory and struggle, have been about relating to the LORD. This brings a deepening of our faith and trust as God heals our doubts. He heals our doubts by showing us He is much greater than we ever knew (and will ever know while in the flesh). His Grace is perfect, more than we can imagine -- and yes, we can imagine quite a bit....

Personally i dont know where id be right now if it wasnt for my OCD, its because of it i have so much more love and understanding to the Lord. I feel his healing power.

I now feel him inside me as before.. i never appreciated anything compared to now. I have thanked Him numerous times, even tho there were times my soul was in torture as the rest of us..even still we feel His love every day, Just remember out of all our suffering, He is the one who suffers most of all. We must learn to ignore it if not for us but for our Father.

Thank you God for youre divine love!

in Christ

thats cool thaks for mentioning this. tonight i was praying and desiring Christ to like a friend to me. Ive been blessed with some great freinds recently and they have been encouragers to me and we are growing in closness and I desire that of God. He wants us to see him as a freind and companion, a father , and savior, and we are married to him in a sense as the bride of Christ. yet when we take our eyes of of th cross and who he really is we start to view him with fear and anxiety.

I guess we should all pray to see God as he truly wants us to see him.
