  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've seen all of the Friday the 13th films, including Freddy vs. Jason.

Definitely going to watch this opening day.

Also, for those fans of the original series who don't know, the first three films of the original franchise were released on DVD (and Blu-Ray?) this past Tuesday. Part 1 is uncut, while part 3 is in 3D and comes with cardboard 3D glasses. Part 2 is the film you might already have in your collection with a few extras.

Part 3 in 3D sounds great.
They did a great job on that one, and it's the first one with the hockey mask.
It is probably the scariest one, but it's hard to say the first one was scarey when it first came out.

I'll see this during the daytime on friday the 13th(hopefully the kids will still be in school, they ruin horror movies by laughing on all the scarey parts)

I'm a huge fan of horror films. I got to conventions yearly that celebrate the genre. I usually attend Flashback Weekend & Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors Chicago. They're both amazing events.

I own and have seen every Friday the 13th (among many other series') so I had to see the film opening night. It was an obligation! :p

I enjoyed it, yet I came home feeling empty. It was much better than Rob Zombies re-imagining of Halloween and is up there with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake or even The Hills Have Eyes remake.

Reading other peoples responses to the film on various forums really aggravated me though. People said they were very happy to see Jason running. The new Friday the 13th was parts 1-4 combined. In parts 2-4 he does in fact run. It just aggravated me that self-proclaimed veterans of the series didn't know that.

I'm highly sick of remakes and films like Saw. Saw is a sorry attempt at making a smart, suspenseful horror film series. It's just a cash cow and is completely ridiculous. Real films that were around in the 70's and 80's such as exploitation films were much more effective at shocking the audience. Saw is 40 years late in my opinion.

It was yucky. :) In a good way. LOL ^ he can't feel pain cus he is DEAD
Actually, since this is a remake of the first four films, he is still very much alive. Jason only became a zombie starting with part six of the original franchise.

I use to LOVE horror movies, and Friday the 13th was one of my all time favorites. When Jason vs Freddy came out, I just HAD to go see it. But there is a huge differance between this time and all the previous movies, I am now a born-again Christian. This changed me in more ways than I thought it would.

No longer can I sit through a blood-splattering slasher flick for the sake of cheap entertainment. No longer can I sit through horror flicks with excessive language, nudity and sexual situations with a mix in a violent serial killer who slashes people for fun, zoom cameras in close on all the gory details so the audience can be "entertained?"

I walked out of Freddy vs Jason after only 30 minutes and cried my heart out. Not ONLY because I felt like I failed my God by giving in to my flesh to see this, but by the mere presence of evil I felt from the audience that was actually CHEERING for Freddy and Jason everytime they killed someone.

Where have we gone wrong to accept this as entertainment? And when did the Christian community start embrasing films like this?

I checked with Screenit.com and was horrified to see that the Friday the 13th remake has about 87 F words, along with several other obscene words and phrases, bare-breasted nudity, couples engaged in immoral teenage sex, drugs, and so much more.

Again, I ask.....

How is this considered acceptable among Christians?

here's my take:
i never saw the first one but heard about it from my parents so i kinda knew they were going back and then forward. it scared me sorta with the actual killings because he is so ruthless but i don't understand the killer like i do in some films. he puts the girl in the basement and keeps her alive for what reason???
hey the lead guy was cute :) clay? but the story was predictable and kind of dumb. they dont put much into these but like my mom said they've been around a long time and could do better.
