Thank you for the great advice Goodearth (appropriate name for this discussion I might add!).

We planted our tomato plants in huge planters instead of making an actual garden.

Ironically my cousin told me to water them at least once a day and NEVER let them dry out. LOL

I think I'll try to let them get a bit thirsty for a while.

You know, these might be Better Boy...I knew it started with a B, but I wasn't sure of the name.

Better Boy is not a beefsteak so that is not the problem. Besides letting them stress by getting to the wilt stage some people dig with a shovel and cut some of the roots. Now I don't know if this will help here all that much the people who cut the roots usually do it as a way to make the plants ripen earlier and it is usually for someone who has enough space and plants that they don't have to worry about a few plants dying off or getting a disease and needed to be removed.

Kind of a different thing than someone with only three plants. Then again depending on when your first frost is you may not have anything to lose in treating the plants a bit roughly.

Thanks RC.

I smacked them around a little yesterday and told them they were ugly to distress them, and now I have FIVE tomatoes. :) (Seriously)

I noticed that one of the plants in the back isn't looking as healthy now and I'm thinking it's not getting 6 full hours of sun, so I'm going to move them around a little today.

Where they're getting tomatoes is right near the top, so it seems like the more sun they get, the better they do.

I also need to stake them, they're starting to fall over from their height. I'm just not sure what to stake them WITH. I almost need stilts at this point.
