I've played the demo... anyone got the full version?

Thoughts? Good buy?

Thinking of getting it?

Is the multiplayer/Online any good?

I used to be VERY into Elite, Frontier, and Frontier First Encounters.....

From the Demo of Freelancer it looks like a good modern version of the old genre but wouldn't mind some player feedback.....

Thanks

I'm sorry to disagree but Freelancer is a truly excelent game, the graphics are superb, the engine is fantastic and the storyline is a classic. Only those who cant play it properly dislike it, as they have obviously not explored the huly diverse galaxy which the game offers.

The "huly diverse galaxy" is actually rather bland and simple. The faction relations to you also get really screwed up for no reason except for the sake of the storyline.

Graphics and engines are good, but if you want storyline in a Freelancer type game, play Escape Velocity Nova instead. The graphics will look dated, but the gameplay and storyline are much superior.

To put it simply, Freelancer looks good from the outside, but it lacks depth, thanks to the the cookie-cutter missions and completely linear storyline.

A nice review that points out its pros and cons can be found at http://www.gamesdomain.com/gdreview/zones/reviews/pc/mar03/freelancer.html

Thanks for the feedback.

That review was very helpful.

Hmm....... David Braburn, wheere are you????? (Creator of the Elite Series. I spoke to him on the phone once you know... He told me how to make a bigger swap file to get Frontier working....anyway.....)

I remian un-decided so I think I'll save my money for now and buy Halo2 on release :)

Thanks again.

My wife played it steadily for 1 month. She thoroughly enjoyed it during the time but says that once you beat it, the enjoyment totally dies and has never played it again. Wait for it to land in the bargain bin or buy something else.

DUDE the A-TEAM rocked man!!!! (Not sure what you mean about MP3's though :S. They are just a medium that the music industry needs to embrace and not fear) Anyway......

Thanks for your comment on Freelancer. With the elite series it was free roaming that was the fun for me (sad I know.) And the quest to buy a bigger, better, "more killy" (as a good mate once put it) ship.

Ah, the time I purchased my first Panther Clipper and loaded it with 4 guns and as many shilds as I could...... watching those pirates just fly into me... HA HA HA.......

...so anyway, I may just sit back and carefully watch the price of Freelancer drop.

Has ANYONE tried it online/lan??????

Hiya. I was only joking about women ya know ;)

...anyway, can you give me more detail about what it involves online and how good it is?

It really is the online gaming I am interested in as let's face it, solo gaming just isn't as good (IMHO).

Would love your feedback. Thanks.

I enjoyed Freelancer. It's in the style of the classic Privateer, though with a much upgraded engine. The single player game isn't too long, or too original (fetch this, kill that, run here) and you can't get the best ships in sp. Multiplayer though, it's quite different. There's quite a few persistent universe servers where you can play with others (200 max total, 30 at a time I think)

The multiplayer plays much the same as the single, but with access to all the ships and gadgets, and depending on the server, there can be guilds, factions, quests, etc. I enjoyed it, but stopped playing when it took a lot of time.

This is about right... and I know you were joking, I was too. :)
