  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Getting away from BLM and ACAB (All Cars are Big?)...

So, we believe God gives us free will but God being personal with us and the world would not mean he is interference in a certain way and conflicting with "free will"?

Wouldn't us free will require God being deistic, even when it goes against Church's teaching?

If God knows before creation that you will do certain things, are you acting out of freewill or according to God's preplanned purpose.
Or is it that God knows what you will do and plans that so you out of freewill do God's plan.

My head hurts.

At the end of the day we serve God.

It’s like having the free will to criticize a perfectly good Star Wars movie. I can only try to help certain clergy see reason, but can’t force them!

interference doesn't refute free will. if you will to jump off of a cliff and I physically stop you, your will isn't being compromised.

I know, I can't stand it when people criticize Episode V, but it's their choice.

What is your definition of "require God being deistic"?
I think there is a language barrier here.

God gave us free will, so we can freely worship and obey Him without restraint.

Deistic means "not interfering in human affairs"

Deistic means "not interfering in human affairs"
Thank you very much.
That was very different than what I was thinking.
However, God won't interfere with our choices, but will provide alternative choices to evil.
As it is written..."There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." (1 Cor 10:13)
God won't force us to follow the escapes He provides from temptation.
But providing them at all seems to define Him as being deistic.
Or do you think differently?

Either way, I thank God for the escapes from temptation.

Who on the face of this planet would be idiotic enough to do that!?!? Best SW film of them all without question!??

I know, I can't stand it when people criticize Episode V, but it's their choice.
