  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There are 50 levels. Each one has a set of words. If you miss one at the level you're playing, you go down to the previous level. If you get three at your current level, you go up a level. It's designed to keep you right at the edge of where you are learning the best.

So it's probably best to say that you play at a certain range of levels. I usually play at around 46-48, but I've gotten up to 50 a couple of times. It's all guessing up there, though. *laughs*

Oh, and you can also go to the options on the website and have it remember your computer, so when you come back it will know what level you're at and how much rice you've already donated.

I don't know whether any of you have seen this - my kids are playing it all the time at the moment.
It's good to see something that is fun and making a difference to those in need.

(I want to know who has to count the grains of rice, tho! :D)
Very cool!!! Thank you for sharing that! I just donated 1,000 grains of rice!  I've got the site bookmarked and will be sharing it with my children. :)

Thanks for that info... I was wondering about that. I got up to level 40, but decided to stop when I reached 1,000 grains. A nice even number! LOL :pink: Some of those words are pretty hard already... Although I was pleasantly surprised at how many I knew. :)

I love it!

Couldn't get above level 48 though! :)
Keep working at it. I couldn't get above 48 at first. Now I bounce up to 49 and sometimes even 50 when I'm on my game. After a while, you'll learn the words. I had it up with two other tabs to dictionary sites for a while, so I could check not only the definitions, but the etymology and pronunciation. For some reason, saying them out loud helps me figure out the meanings.

I do the same thing - plus my daughter helps me;)

When my brother sent me the link to Free Rice, and, as proof, a link to the information from Snopes:

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/charity/freerice.asp

Is it all about proficiency or is it all about getting rice to the hungry?

Instead of posting levels attained, why not post how many sacks of rice you have earned?

:sorry:

I think it is about both.
The way the game engages people to improve their levels is responsible for its popularity... and so results in more rice being donated.

Sadly, few would return to play again were it not for the challenge aspect.

In our family, the challenge tends to be around who can donate most rice, since the younger children are not very good at the actual game! Their vocabulary is improving, though!
