What is the 'Free Reformed' Church? How does it differ from a regular Reformed Church?

calgal said:I think they may be the old Netherlands Reformed Churches...The Free Reformed broke off from the Christian Reformed Church (CRC) in the 1950's. They thought the CRC was too worldly and there were differences on Article 17 of the Canons of Dordt.

The split was over doctrinal issues, and perceived heavy-handedness by the Reformed Churches' Synod. In Free Reformed Churches of Australia, at least, have become quite insular.

I've been doing a spot of research on this, and found a Reformed Timeline which gives an excellent summary of the various reformed denominations in North America.

well, it's good being separated from the queenslanders and south australians, they're the two states i dislike the most. bass strait's just a major hassle when we want to travel to NSW to visit all our rellies.i thought that was the bit you guys liked - being separated from those victorians
