Also if you want to swing a little (very little) upfront money and buy Ultima Online (UO) there are a number of "player run shards" that are free and great fun. You can find the older versions (that work fine on player shards) for less than 20 bucks.

It's an older client, but still a lot of fun!

I don't play anymore... But used to be an avid UO'er

Yeah I subscribed to UO for 6 years. That was (once) a very fun game. I tried the player run shards but it was just not the same. Running the server on my computer and logging into that was fun but that's not MMO of course. Eternal-Lands is much like UO though. I provided the link, that's a good one and has a large established community.

I hear ya... UO went downhill for me. I was a subscriber for 6 years also! What shard were you on? I was a GL person... And volunteered on Atl (back when there were still volunteers).

My wife and I both have commited not to get involved in MMO games anymore... We both struggled with basically an addiction to gaming in the past and don't want to let that problem re-emerge in our lives now. I do miss it at times... I still drop in on the Stratics folks from time to time... I used to manage the GL team for Stratics. :) Good times...

God Bless!
