This looks like a good place to post this. Logos Research Systems, a Bible software manufacturer, is offering their BDB abridged, with the operating program, free of cost. I have downloaded it and it works great. The first link below is the Logos Home page, the second is the page for downloading the program.

Clicking this link will initiate their standard purchase form page. Don't be alarmed the system automatically inserts $0.00 for the price. After downloading, Start-Run to decompress the files. As I said it works great.

Second, I saw some posts concerning viruses. Don't know if it was a virus but recently I fried a 1 year old 15 gig HD. None of my computer "geek" friends (their term, not being derogatory) knew what could have caused it.

I was sending a Yahoo email tried to attach a picture from a diskette. The PC locked up so I shut down and tried again. Started fine but the diskette which had been almost full was now totally blank. Shut off PC, next day, "Operating System Not Found". Would not start with a boot disk. Took it to a local computer repair shop. He said the 15 gig HD was blank and unstable, he could not load anything on it. Also a second 1.2 gig, the original HD, was also fried and the motherboard was unstable. He also did not know what might have caused that. Any guesses?

If that's really a 15GB hard drive then it could be up to approx 10 years old. Sounds like the PC has had a brief power spike and fried the motherboard and attached components - maybe due to old age.

First You should delete the files You downloaded in vain, from the libronix folder (but You can save them meanwhile in My Documents or Downloaded).
If You want that specific book, go to: https://www.logos.com/product/677/t...s-hebrew-english-lexicon-of-the-old-testament
... and "buy" it. It doesn't cost anything. However, there has to be a credit card or debit card on file.
Any other book, go to https://www.logos.com/products/search?q=&start=&sort=pricelo&pageSize=15&unlocked=no
... and do the same. Browse the free offers, and if You don't find what You want You may have to purchase. If there's something specific You want, drop me a line and I'll look into how You can get it at the best price (rarely can anything specific be obtained for free though) - just write a Visitor Message in my profile (or possibly, send me a Private Message, soon I will probably pay Christianforums the $20 annual fee to get a bigger Private Message box and get rid of ads).
After all this, put the files back in the folder. Then they start working.

I use Libronix 3.0g myself too, as well as both newer versions 4.6c, 5.1, 5.2 and Verbum+:
I did download some files and pasted into the resource folder of my LIbronix 3.0g, but in vain. I'm not able to access the same, it asks for some serial code or licence. Can u suggest any idea on this ...

thanx ...

I can't find any other relevant thread a month old or newer here on CF, so I'll post the following here too:
There is a product that will disappear after December 31. 2013 Pacific Standard Time:
https://www.logos.com/product/38320/500-book-mega-pack

They claim the discount is 96%, but when I calculate what I value and how I value, I get:
(with first letter of the surname or topic)

22.6% discount (compared to the $400 bundle price) from somewhat useful items despite their age:
B: Loraine Boettner Collection (8 vols.)
C: Cambridge Greek Testament for Schools and Colleges (21 vols.) Look for reviews at: What are the good volumes? Cambridge Greek Testament.
Life in a Risen Saviour, by Candlish
J: Sketches of Jewish Social Life in the Days of Christ by Edersheim
Z: The Works of Zwingli (7 vols.)

+25.9% discount from fillers which I value lower usually expecting 80-85% discount (compared to if the bundle would cost $530,33 (95% discount instead of the actual discount on the total sum of the current store prices for every item in the bundle)), which are:
A: Classic Anabaptist and Mennonite History Collection (19 vols.)
B: Gnomon of the New Testament (5 vols.) by Bengel
H: Adolf von Harnack Collection (22 vols.)
R: William Mitchell Ramsay Collection (16 vols.)
W: The Works of John Wycliffe (12 vols.)

= 48.5% discount.

The rest I would just hide (what it's called in versions 4 & 5, means delete) in order not to clutter my library with things I wouldn't even want to use. With hundreds of books or over a thousand, it's daunting to use the library if You save everything You've bought - particularly if much of what You got came from Bundles/really large Collections/base-packages.

Now the advantages to sites on the web that have these, are that these are searchable (for example (verse) reference or "cited by"), convenience not having to use Google and being able to work offline (perhaps saving on internet connection cost), notes and highlightings can easily be made and they are backed up, there is a system for organizing the books (called creating collections and mytags). The books are fully tagged. The only difference of one competitor: Accordance, is that they also tag headings and You can quickly go from one heading to the next with one click on the keyboard.

Read what I've written in this thread: Creating a budget and cancelling orders
... before You buy, especially the last post from yesterday December 21. at 3:53 PM PST! Then compare 48.5% off to a goal of 60% off!

Hint: if there's something else You want too besides a big purchase, and can afford making a phone call, call Sales (they work Mon-Sat 6 AM-6 PM PST) and ask what price they could offer You on the them. (In case You want a base-package, they are of similar quality as this 500 book offer, I strongly suggest You contact me here on CF or Faithlife and ask me for instructions to get the best possible price!)

Libronix instal possibl
Hi, precha7!!
Right now it's possible to do the complete installation process, altough not in a fully automated way.

What I'm referring to is of course Libronix/Logos 3. Version 3.0g.

OCTOBER 19th 2014: See this post for really cheap software:
cheap software +...
... since not all books in the store are compatible with it (You may PM here or try to get hold of "Denise" on the Logos forums by posting there to find out whether the book You are about to purchase is compatible), especially not new pre-pubs (and new community pricing items) You'll be able to restrain Your purchases. Runs on XP, Vista and Window 7, but You must use no other Internet Explorer version than 8 (which is btw still udated, I just had it updated with Oct. 14. 2014 Windows updates, and at the moment Vista is still somewhat supported and very cheap, but XP is definitely the fastest of the three as it's less disk intense and requires much less RAM). It's also faster than the latest version despite that the corporiation has hired C++ and C# programmers to make the forthcoming version (5.3a, 5.3b or 5.4) faster:
That's good to see lot of resources in ftp.logos.com and I did download some files and pasted into the resource folder of my LIbronix 3.0g, but in vain. I'm not able to access the same, it asks for some serial code or licence. Can u suggest any idea on this ...

I emailed precha7.
And if anyone wants the email and name of the representative who can do this at Logos office, please PM me. I'm hesitant to post publicly with that info as the official support has ended long ago:
