CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I highly recommend Franz Ferdinand, the cd is the best thing I've heard all year. The entire cd is great from start to finish, the first single "Take me out" is getting alot of play on the indie stations where I live. I'm sure their website has samples of the songs from the album check out Jacqueline/Dark of the Matinee/Cheating on You/Come on Home. Those are my personal favorites from the cd. I don't know what sound or genre you'd lump them into, but I think they have a refreshing sound in comparison to what fills the radio now days.

They have huge underground buzz just recently, which is slightly upsetting the fact that they get Viacom play, but whatever. I don't dig them, but that's just me.

Robot in Disguise
Spin magazine thinks they are pretty hot. They said that they were one of the best shows at South By Southwest in Austin Texas (out of 1000 some bands).

Franz Ferdinand are riding a wave of great popularity at the moment in the UK. I actuall saw them live last year when they were supporting another band I was seeing. Their album is worth definately worth a listen.
The only thing that bothers me (as it did with The Strokes) is that they have a very distinct style and sound which could go out of fashion very quickly. As always the all imporant 2nd album will be a more sure test of their quality.

I remember watching an interview with them. They talked about making music people can dance to, even on their concerts. But that's about everything I know about them..

yeah they are doing well here, "take me out" is played all the time, but thats ok, cause its a great song. Their video is played on tv daily.
