Wow. I can't even come up with a proper word to describe this? Hodgepodge perhaps?
Notice what Zechariah said concerning those horses:
Zech 1:10 And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.
11 And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.
These are as "watchmen." Their job seemed to be to watch and see what was happening on earth. Just a "side note" here: wouldn' it be wonderful if the earth was in this state now? I would what they would say, if they were sent out today?
Do we find such a description of the four horses and riders, in Revelation? Not on your tintype! For instance, the white horse and rider are sent out to conquer, the red horse and rider are to represent war, the black horse and rider to represent famine, and the 4th horse is named "Death."
Most folks just read right over these, and never get the scriptural context. However, there IS a context. We have to go back to chapter 5, and get the clues:
1) Jesus was not in the throne room
2) A diligent search was made for one worthy to break the seals, and the search came up emty. No man was found.
3) The Holy Spirit was in the throne room.
All three of these seem strange, considering that John saw this vision about 60 years after Jesus rose from the dead! There are MANY verses that tell us Jesus went to be at the Father's right hand - yet he was not there. Jesus Himself said that as soon as He arrived back in heaven, He would send the Holy Spirit down, yet there He was in the throne room. We know from reading ahead, that Jesus became worthy to break the seals, because He became the redeemer of mankind. But in 95 AD, why was "no man found?"
There is a simple answer, but I was slow, and had to meditate and bug God about these verses for months, before I got revelation. John was seeing into the past: God was showing John a vision back before Jesus had risen from the dead! Then, John was privileged to see the very moment that Jesus ascended into the throne room, probably moments after telling Mary that He had not yet ascended.
Therefore, this is the context of the four horsemen: the timeframe of the moment that Jesus ascended into heaven. What does Jesus do the moment that He gets there? He takes the scroll and starts breaking the seals! These first five seals were broken about 33 AD. They set in motion, the beginning of the end! We could say that the end times started then, at the beginning of the church age.
White has stood for righteousness from Genesis to maps. I can assure you, White was meant to represent righteousness here to. What entity on earth, in about 33 AD would be "righteous?" Of course, only one: the church of the Lord Jesus Christ: the body of Christ on earth. Jesus told the church to go and make disciples of all nations. Since Satan is the "God of this world," it would take "conquering" to go anywhere and preach the gospel! But today, there are born again people in all the world!
The other horsemen are to represent Satan's feeble attempt to stop the church.
