I would like a thread to explain the foundation of the word of God. The milk of the word.............things we need to know before eating the meat.

Milk only................so simple that a child can understand.

I know one thing I thought was meat.............but is something all should know................and it is about Jesus abiding in us................and how we also abide in him. We can start with talking about God in us.........and then move on to forgiveness and repentance and whatever else is the milk.

Remember to keep things simple when explaining what you know.

Hi Tam,
Hebrews chapters 5 & 6 is one place that addresses this subject directly, and I would encourage you to thoughtfully and prayerfully read through and do a thorough study of the "basic" or "foundational" doctrines mentioned in 6:1-2, such as repentance from dead works, faith in who Jesus Christ is and what He has done for all who believe and receive Him as their Savior, baptisms, the laying on of hands, the future resurrection of all who have died, and eternal judgement.

Along with input by others in this thread there are several good (free) on-line commentaries at www.studylight.org that will provide you with some solid teaching on these verses also.

The baby step, the milk would be to know Love, we must know Love to say we Love God, to say we Love Christ, to say we Love our neighbor, Love is defined in one spot in scripture and one spot only in 1Cor13:4-7 this defines Love by 12 manners --characteristics--fruits to study this would be to learn what Love is and only then can we truly say i Love God, we must know Love, this is the baby step this is the milk, God is Love , Love is Gods Way.

Read, study and meditate on God's Word daily. As we reflect on God's truth, we absorb, internalize and personalize God's words and ways. Rather than words engraved in stone or written on paper, God's laws become written on our hearts (Hebrews 8:10). As we meditate on God's Word, we can apply and put into practice what we are learning.
