  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Fornication

Our church has allowed non members to participate in Secret Sisters a prayer group for women, but one woman is living with a man and is not married. I feel that God is not going to answer her prayers until she ends this relationship. Its like she doesn't have faith that God will take care of her....to add she has been born again for four years now. I think the bible tells us clearly that the Holy Spirit intercedes for her. but he will not bless her, and she isn't growing in her faith. She feels very comfortable at where she is at. Therefore it seems ok to her to stay in sin...

It is not for such as we to make such a determination! How can such as we know what such as He will do or not do? If God won't/doesn't listen to the prayers of those of us who sin (i.e. that's everybody, see Ecclesiastes 7:20), to those of us who need Him the most, to whom then, will He listen? Doesn't your scripture (Matthew 7:1) say, "Judge not, that ye be not judged'?

Be well!

I agree the only one who should do the judging is God. Who are we to decide who God should bless and who he should not. I am sure that at one time or another we all have faulted and God has still blessed us. I think that the only thing you can do is pray for this woman and man that they might find God and do the right thing.

From my experance I have seen God perform up to three miracles or healings in the life of people who are still living in sin. But somewhere along the way, He expects them to come out of their sin and live for Him.

Paul makes it very clear that we are to live in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Sooner or later, if people do not get themselves right with God, then He will just not be there for them anymore. He will quit answering their prayers 'tell they repent and live for Him.

Psalm 107:17-20 Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. [18] Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. [19] Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. [20] He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

We see people healed of Aids in Africa all the time. But first they have to repent and turn away from their sin. Then God will heal them. The promises of God are conditional, we have to do our part. But if we do our part, then we can be sure He will do His part.

I bet that practically every day that she has "lived in sin" with her boyfriend, you have committed at least one sin. In God's eyes, her "fornication" is no worse than your little white lie, your eating an extra cookie that you know you shouldn't have, or when you didn't witness to that person that God opened a door for you to speak with. Yes, what she is doing is against God's will, but we are all sinners. That's why jesus had to die on the cross for us, you know.

For JohnR7,
You said, "We see people healed of Aids in Africa all the time. But first they have to repent and turn away from their sin."
I ask you this: Are those who get raped called sinners because someone else (with AIDS) had passed the disease on to them? Many of those in Africa have AIDS because they were raped by soldiers (particularly in the Congo). In addition, not everyone with AIDS has acted sinfully, and we have no right to judge those in Africa (even though AIDS is prevalent there). So, please refrain from generalizations when referring to others acting in sin.

Have you ever prayed for this woman? Has anyone asked her why she continues to live with her boyfriend instead of getting married? (and are you absolutely sure that they are fornicating with each other?)

It's hard to understand the actions of others at times. Give God some time to work on her heart. :)
