Former Occultist redeemed by Jesus

Hi everyone. I'm James, and after many years of serious occult practice I left it all behind and came to Jesus last year. Receiving his redemption was a wonderful blessing that I'm hugely grateful for, and I am enjoying getting to know Him and my faith more intimately every day.

Because of the depth and gravity of my old spiritual errors, I am praying for guidance on the feeling that I'm being called to play an active role in helping prevent people from getting involved in New Age, Pagan, Occult and Satanic spirituality. Your prayers would be appreciated here as I'm finding more and more each day just how effective prayer can be when it aligns with God's plan for us.

i've been charting my life story and testimonial on my blog www.fishedout.blog in the form of a Spiritual Autobiography that goes through the things that got me into the occult and how Jesus reached down into the darkness and pulled me out of it.

Apart from offering advice and guidance to those who are tempted towards the kind of stuff I managed to escape from, I'm also interested in discussing Christ and the Scriptures in general, and hope to learn, grow and start making some Christian friends which, at present, I have very few of.

Very nice to meet you, JayFish . Very thankful to hear that you escaped the OCCULT. It has many, very many, caught in its WEB in very deceptive ways... I'm a Master Herbalist and I meet people often who are into NEW AGE HEALTH practices that have no idea that they are dabbling in SPIRITISM.

Hi Psalm. Since 'recovering,' Jesus has become far more to me than I could have anticipated when I was in opposition to Him. The most positive view I had of him before, when I was practicing Ceremonial Magic, Qaballah, etc., was that he was a mythological figure, a representative of the solar principle, or a good and wise teacher whose teachings had been hijacked by religious dogmatists for their own selfish purposes.

Bit since my heart became less hardened, which occurred when I stopped practicing magic and meeting with other occultists, my feelings towards Him gradually warmed until I realised that, beneath the veneer of pride and rebellion, I had strong feelings of love for God at the core of my being, which magic and occultism were a perversion of. Letting go of the self centred aspects of spirituality left me with a raw desire to 'come home' after a lifetime of wandering in difficult lands. As my understanding of who Jesus was - the Incarnation of God - developed, it grew into faith, and when that came to me, I realised I could happily let go of my desire to have power and control over things and just rest without fear under His easy yoke.

With the feelings of freedom that came from relinquishing the Self to God and sacrificing pointless earthly desires for greater Heavenly ones, I came to experience the deep realisation that everything about my former life was wrong. It took a great deal of struggle to get over the guilt for my sins, but in time I had total confidence that I was forgiven and that I could move on and be a better person for being His servant.

All of these realisation have led to feelings of great joy, reprieve and liberation, as if I've been freed from the gallows just before the drop.
