The Great Controversy

I do find it interesting ex-Adventists have so much interest in EGW. If I were to ever leave a church I would never look back as we are commissioned to spread the gospel and thats how I would invest my time, debating on things I didn’t believe in seems like a waste of time, unless its still on one’s conscious.
Another one who claims they know what strangers do on the internet, interesting. I have stated I am reading her books, I have a family history of people who are well-read on her books and I am very familiar with her writings. I have also personally witnessed the positive impact her books have on bringing people closer to God’s Word. You don’t need to be an expert on EGW to see how she is intentionally being taken out of content.I find it interesting you think you know what Ellen White said when you haven't read her, but we have. And we are hoping to save others the time.
And don't you find it interesting that all the Adventists run here to defend Ellen White? Even the ones who have not read her by their own admission? Isn't that taking time?
Other churches preach the gospel. They don't need to take time to deal with Ellen White. And if folks learn about her statements, they don't need to either.
I know what you said. If you didn't say it I wouldn't know it.Another one who claims they know what strangers do on the internet, interesting. I have stated I am reading her books, I have a family history of people who are well-read on her books and I am very familiar with her writings.
I'm not the best person to ask about what EGW thinks of Mary as I have not read her books, reading my first one now but you can do a search yourself English — Ellen G. White Writings
Taken out of context.I know what you said. If you didn't say it I wouldn't know it.
Ask your people with a family history if Ellen White thought that Miller's message was of God and was meant to test. Or just read the writings and you will know she did.
But of course, Miller's message was false. Jesus did not come in 1843. And his message went against the words of Scripture that forbid date setting.
We have a whole thread on it now. No need to derail this one.
I'm not the best person to ask about what EGW thinks of Mary as I have not read her books, reading my first one now but you can do a search yourself English — Ellen G. White Writings
Ok, explain how it is out of context. You say you have not read her books, and are reading your first one now.
Was that statement true?
I find it interesting you think you know what Ellen White said when you haven't read her
Miller was wrong, he misunderstood the heavenly sanctuary, Miller was a baptist Pastor, not a Seventh day Adventist, EGW was a Methodist at the time of 1844 and if one were to read here The Great Controversy and here The Great Controversy would have better insight. Take care
You said I said I haven’t read her books, which is different than I am reading her books. You do not know what I do with my time, or my history with my understanding of her from research and a long family history to have read all of her books. You presented something I said our of context, which I see a pattern
You didn’t state that the first time, you stated I have never read her books and only added part of the context back in when called out on it, You do not know what I do with my time, its best never to assume. You said you are reading your first Ellen White Book. It is not out of context at all. You are not familiar with Ellen White's writings if you are reading your first book.
Actually I did state it the first time. I said:You didn’t state that the first time, you stated I have never read her books and only added part of the context back in when called out on it, You do not know what I do with my time, its best never to assume.![]()
Yes Miller was a Baptist. Yes, Ellen White was a Methodist, until she was removed.
You may certainly read the Great Controversy. And I recommend you read Early Writings.
Miller's message was definitely, one hundred percent wrong. Jesus did not come in 1843 or 1844.
Which is why it is very strange that she says his message was heavenly, and condemns those who rejected it.
But by all means. read both books. And you will find that those who already have know what they say.
And then you can participate in the thread on the topic.
Yes, Jesus did not come in 1843 or 1844, Miller, the Baptist minster was wrong, but what it did do is have a lot of people studying God’s Word who weren’t doing that previously so a lot of good came out of it. Ellen White admits no one knows the date or the hour when Jesus will come, but we are told by Jesus He gives us signs so we can be prepared and be ready. The Great Disappointment was predicted in scripture, which more good came from than not.
I stated:
I find it interesting you think you know what Ellen White said when you haven't read her, but we have.
Ellen White wrote a tremendous amount of material. If you say you are reading your first one, then it is quite true that you do not know what Ellen White said, because you have not read them. And the ones you are speaking to have read them. Noting about the context changes that. Because reading a part of an Ellen White book does not make you familiar with her writings.
But either way, people may participate in the thread regardless of how many Ellen White books they have or have not read. I simply said you may want to withhold judgement until you actually read the material.
I already did move on. I said either way you can participate in the thread on the topic. This one is not on this topic.Again, you do not know what I do with my time and I do not owe you an explanation, so I suggest you move on.
I know many scholars and theologians, who are very wrong about scripture. Just because someone is well-read does not mean they are being guided properly.
yeah - it all depends on whether someone really want to hitch their wagon to someone that uses those methods.Obviously you don't think he got all of it right because you posted on the youtube comments on several saying he was wrong.
And he did come across with a few needless shots that were not really supported.
I also thought, for those who watched far enough, his greatest commandment comment missed her contextual statement of "in the decalogue.".
