  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"On this account I say to YOU, Every sort of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven. For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come." -Matthew 12:31-32

Was your sin against the Holy Spirit? All sins will be forgiven if your are repentant. Please dont give up on God or yourself only because of the teachings of misguided fools with their condemnations and their scare tactics. Please dont take this in a condecending selfrighteous manner but, I will pray for you. I hope you do as well.

Are you convinced that Jesus isn't the son of God? Are you convenced that God doesn't exist?

I was the prodical son so to speak for a period of my adolesence, and let me tell you something when you turn your back on God, you forget things, like His forgiveness, He will forgive you for what you've done, and the best thing you can do is come home, and walk foward, don't let satan destroy you with this guilt. I hope this helps, it is what I know from what I've been through, God bless. :)

Yes, Jesusfreak is right about guilt. It can be a cause of terrible affliction. Having guilt is a good sign towards repentance, but letting it drag you down till you just dont want to live or see another day is not. Memories from however long can stay quite fresh and overpower even our daily functioning. I know i have my own.

"When the disciples heard that, they expressed very great surprise, saying: "Who really can be saved?" Looking them in the face, Jesus said to them: "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." -Matthew 19:25-26

Yes, vilkrang, all your sins may be forgiven if you are really repentant.
However, it is imperative that you talk to a priest, and, after taking the necessary steps for you to become a Catholic (and these will include study, which will likely re-animate your faith), you will have to confess them.

If you are not yet baptized, it is also very important for you to see a priest, in which case there will be no confessing of these sins which you are ashamed of, for they will be forgiven at baptism.

I have similar feeling about my past and youth, and for quite some time i knew i was out of Gods grace. The sun shone on my face but i could not feel its warmth. I found the best way to rebuilding my selfworth towards myself was only by going through God, letting God show me what He wants and following it, instead of what i want. Its been years of rebuilding and trying and hoping and praying. And one day.... a miracle. God has blessed me with undeserved kindness, and i know it, and i dont want to take Him for granted..EVER again. . He gave me a light to find my way again. Its nothing extraordinary or extravagant to anyone else, but to me its a miracle and answered prayer, a second chance at myself.

You need to ask Him for forgiveness, and tell Him EVERYTHING. He will give you forgiveness and love, im sure of it.

I don't mean any offence by this, but I would just like to clarify that one doesn't need to be Catholic to be christian.

Oh yes, and I forgot to tell you about the importance of prayer; pray to God to offer you the graces you need to believe once again, and also to the Virgin Mary to intercede for you.

Your disposition is, I must say, in itself very laudable (seeking repentance and lamenting the loss of faith); it may be the first step towards your coming back to Christ.

If God exists, and Jesus is His Son, you will be forgiven if you can accept what Jesus did on the cross.

I do agree with Fallen and Jesusfreak too. Guilt is healthy in small doses (as a reminder), but because it leads to self destructive thinking, you need to stop feeling guilty all the time. You need to turn your guilt into regret. I regret alot of things I have done, but I am ok with my past now. You can't "undo" your past, but you can overcome it.

If you ever need to compare how horrible of a person you used to be, but no longer are, feel free to pm me. I have done some really evil things in my past too.
