Hey gang! Just wondering if there's any fellow fantasy/sci-fi readers out there?
I recently got into the legend of Drizzt...starting from the very first series which introduces him and shows his origin. (The Dark Elf trilogy) Man, what a fantastic character.

I love the Dragonlance series...but Drizzt has to be the most interesting and deep character in all of fantasy. Awesome.

I like The Savage Sword Of Conan b&w magazine. It vividly captures the imagination, and holds it. That's the key to good fantasy.

I'm just about done with the Dark Elf trilogy...moving on to the Icewind Dale trilogy now. =0

Eh I’ve read a few in the past, such as Baldur’s Gate among others. I don’t read them any longer though, I prefer Christian fantasy rather than the occultic stuff forgotten realms churns out. Old saying is “garbage in, garbage out” and that holds true.

How is it Christian AND fantasy? The very basis of Fantasy is that it's...well...not real. Completely made up. Fantasy.

Ah! Do you mean stuff like Narnia? I thought that was pretty decent for christian fantasy. All though I'd say Lord of the Rings is probably the best in terms of Christian influenced fantasy.

All though i've found that even in secular fantasy there are GREAT messages of forgivness, compassion, love and other great messages that could easily be found in Christian based fantasy.

I've always been against Sci-Fi my whole life, (either didn't care for it, or thought it was a waste of time). Then, through forcing myself to read the Chronicles of Narnia, I'm now convinced that sometimes, Sci-Fi might be to the benefit of the Christian! (=

Narnia is great.

All though even the Dark Elf trilogy, and especially the Drizzt character contains plenty of messages that can speak to a Christian.

I play a lot more D&D than read fantasy fiction. At least I used to. My gaming group has disintegrated this year. I think God is moving me to start my gaming small group at church (using Testament RPG).

I want to pick up the Eberron fiction books, I really love that campaign world, might enjoy the books.

Holylands seems like a good campaign, I’ve been reading through the many documents, pretty good.
ScreenMonkey is a nice tool, I’ve been working on a Sci-fi P&P campaign and have been thinking of adapting it to use with ScreenMonkey.

There are quite a few Christian Fantasy books and games out there. LOTR and Narnia is probably better defined as a Christian influenced work, though the authors were RCC and from what I have determined much of their works are RCC inspired. I like those books, though have a few issues with them, but generally a shining example of good Christian Fantasy literature would be Pilgrims Progress imo.
