Forgiving Oneself?

Hi rtan64,

I'm not sure about whether bible mentioned anything about 'forgiving oneself', but can I equate your question to 'guilt'? I think bible did mention something about being 'set free'. I will look up some scripture references and ask people about this during the weekend. Will let you know.

if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to CLEANSE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS!

if you confess your sin, he will forgive you, and then THERE IS NOTHING SINFUL, OR UNRIGHTEOUSE ABOUT YOU!
for you to carry a feeling of condemnation or guilt of sin that god has forgiven, is calling him a liar, he says you have no sin anymore. if you have no sin to feel guitly about, then why do feel guilty?

like paul said
FORGETTING THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE BEHIND! and pressing forward...

dude, forget those old sins that are now behind you! god has forgotten them, who do you remember them?
forget em.

also,
he said those sins were BEHIND HIM!
behind him.

jesus told the devil to do what?
"GET THEE BEHIND ME SATAN!"
behind him.

for sin to be behind you, isnt simply meaning its in your past, but that you have complete power and authority and triumph over them! they have no right, satan has no right, to try to get back in your mind and condemn you for something god has forgiven you of!

MY GOD! ISNT HE AMASING!?

Not in Biblical terms but just a thought.

The Bible told us to forgive right? But if you cannot forgive yourself first and formost then how can you forgive others as well?

Just a thought and I hope others can help me as well.

BTW rtan64?

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!! :D

God bless!!! :)

Another interesting thought. He forgives us as we forgive others. I think that means we had better be sincere when forgiving others.

I find it harder to forgive myself for screw ups than I do forgiving others. I am really good at beating myself over the head with past mistakes. :)

Anybody else have that problem?

man in a box,

WOW!!!! You have really put it into perspective for me. Thank you so much. I never looked at it from God's perspective. :) While I believe we are to be contrite and make amends where we can, we do have to accept His forgiveness as sincere, otherwise, it's like you said. Wow! Thank you.
