• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can I ever do this?

Angel

One can only forgive the worst of wrongs with God's help. But, it is possible, and although it might never free the wrongdoer from his or her sin, it will free you.

Someone once said holding another in unforgiveness is like taking poison in the hopes the other person will die.

The reason Jesus asks us to forgive seventy-times-seven, which pretty much translates into forgiving everything, is because he knows how damaging such a state is on us. What hurts us is not the act itself, it is the unforgiveness we hold on to afterwards. It kills the soul and does nothing to the other person.

Let go. Free yourself from the bonds of unforgiveness, and let go. ((((hugs0))))

Dearest, this is the beginning of a good thing. There's no way to know for sure who is who or if they are being sincere. We can only strive to be sincere ourselves.

You will learn as life goes on (as I suspect you are still quite young), that the only one we can truly trust in, who never fails us, is God. When you get older, you'll find peace in that, and it will free you to treat others with the greatest of respect, seeing them in the same light God sees us all, as very frail, fallible, and subject to all sorts of human whims.

We're all in the same boat. :)

I don't believe in God thats why I don't know why I am here

Oh, I see. Then all my responses might not mean much to you right now, and I can only respond from a place of believing fully in God and all the teachings of Jesus. But, I will pray for you. xxoo

I just wanted to add, that even in the field of psychology, there's a great deal out there about the power of forgiveness. So, maybe you can look there.

I am 36 years old but with Munltiple personalities so there is alot of children inside

I can only encourage you with every ability you have to seek God, to ask if he is there to give you the faith you need to believe in him. Ask him to fill you with his Spirit, to give you wisdom and peace.

Ask him, please. It can't hurt, but it can be the beginning of a great help. Blessings, dearest.

the best thing I can say I guess, is Jesus was beaten, mocked, made to carry His own cross, then to hang naked on the cross for the world to see... blood dripping down... He said, "Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do. (Luke 23:24). and He died there on the cross, an innocent pure lamb, so that we may receive forgiveness...

for my husband who molested my daughter, its been a rough road. He's asked for forgiveness... but it's so hard. Some times I feel like I honestly do, and others I don't.

It's back and forth, and I recommend prayer.

As for my own abusers, I haven't forgiven them. But they never apologized for what they did to me.

I don't know if my father is dead or alive. my mom and dad divorced when I was fifteen, and it took me eight years to forgive him after the memories came back. But forgiveness isn't to set him free, but it set me free... unforgiveness was always a weight holding me down. but now, I have been able to finally live life again. forgiveness doesn't make what he did right, because in the end, he will be judged accordingly to what he did by God, but by forgiving, I put it in God's hands, instead of trying to act out vengeance on my own. It sets you free to forgive.

Hi Angelsurvive,
I know how it feels to have been abused and wounded.
Jesus died for our sins as well as for those who sin against us.
The answer is to abide in Jesus through prayer and bible reading.
Believe and trust in Jesus.
Jesus came to heal the broken hearted and set at liberty those who are bruised.
He invites us to come to Him for rest.
He laid down His life for us and rose again on the third day.
He has power to forgive sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness with His own blood.
Jesus is our good Shepherd who leads us to still waters and restores our soul.

The Lords Prayer
Luke 11

1And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3Give us day by day our daily bread.
4And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
5And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
6For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?
7And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.
8I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
11If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Isaiah 53

1Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
11He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 12Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors

One day Jesus will wipe all tears from our eyes.
Jesus is our hope.
Jesus is our strength.
Jesus is Truth.
Jesus has the answers.
Jesus is our Saviour and Redeemer.
Jesus is our Healer.
Jesus is the Way,the Only Way.
Jesus mercy endures forever.
Jesus forgives sin.
Jesus is our hope.
Jesus is the Ressurection and the Life.
Jesus is the Only Way.
Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.
