Because, if you do something and ask for forgiveness, but you keep doing it over and over again, you don't mean to do it, but when you realize that you've done it again, it already too late, would God still forgive you?
It's not how many times we mess up, that God is concerned with. it's how we use the forgiveness extended to us that is important. Jesus tells us if a man sins against you, you are obligated to forgive him when he repents. even if the man sins against you many, many, many times and asks for forgiveness each time. Why? because it is the same with us. If we sin the same sin 1000 times in a year (not including the others)we have to be forgiven 1000 times that year for the same sin, by God. So if a brother sins against you a few dozen times shouldn't you extend the same grace shown you?
This principle is taught by Jesus in Mt.18:21-35 The parable of the unmerciful servant..
Our forgiveness hinges on our ability to forgive others. If we cannot forgive then we will not be forgiven ourselves.
To God, all sin even something we would consider small like Gossip or if someone ask you
how do I look in this, and you tell them
they look good when you think they look terrible.. To God those sins are equally deserving of the same hell Hitler belongs to. So to God whether you sin once, or if try and wipe out a race of people, the result is the same without Faith, and love for Jesus..
If Hitler Found Jesus truly found him, there would be forgiveness for him, but you can't Find Jesus/The Holy Spirit and remain silent about it. then shoot yourself and your live in Girlfriend.. Finding Jesus is like falling in love.. Love makes you want to share and do for the person you love.. Not kill and enslave the people that person loves..
It can be said that we are justified by faith and not of works, but it can also be said a faith without works is dead. Meaning you can't separate the two without destroying your faith..
So could Hitler have been saved? Yes. Was he? Most likely not. How can you be sure? Because the "fruit" that man produced was not in line with the will and wishes of God.
"Death bed" confessions are plausible, but most often times not valid (for lack of a better word) because the faith, that is used (most of the time) is as dead as the confessor will soon be. The reason most death bed confessions are made, is out of desperation, and in an effort for self preservation.. Neither are an acceptable measure of "faith."
We have been put here to love and worship God, not to try and save ourselves at the end of a life lived in defiance of the God we are supposed to have loved. but sometimes, we find love at the end of our lives for God, and for that person God and heaven await! But do not think you can fool him into thinking that you are one of those people when you are not.
