How do I forgive him for all he has done??

Kim, you forgive him in the only way it is possible for we, as fallen humans, to forgive. You ask God for the grace to forgive him. Remember though, forgive does not mean forget. There are temporal results to our sinfulness. Therefore, I encourage you to forgive your brother for his trespass against you and also to stop enabling him. Love, true love, is giving the recipient that which he/she most needs to be obedient to God with NO regard for yourself. In the case of your brother it seems to me that the only capacity in which you can do this is to STOP giving him financial support.

Your brother has to learn that though you love him you will not support his addiction. Until the consequences of his actions start to manifest in his life he will never turn from them.

And, most importantly, pray for him. It is God that will change his heart, not you or even a drug rehab. Both you and the rehab have your place in his recovery but neither of you will change him. He, by the grace and mercy of God, will change himself.

God bless

You ever tell someone who is caught up in a trespass to repent? I have. My experience is that our encouragement/command to repent is fruitless unless and until God changes their heart. Did she say the guy was even a Christian? If not it will do little good.

The first words out of Jesus' mouth after his wilderness temptation was "REPENT, the kingdom of God is at hand." It is not useless for someone to hear "repent" from a real person. The Holy Spirit then uses that rebuke and works in that person's heart.

I didn't say it would be useless or that we shouldn't do it. I said that unless God first changes their heart then telling them to repent would be fruitless, i.e., it would not produce repentence.

Dear Kim,from your thank you letter I see that you are coping a bit better now.It is a very hard cross you are bearing, but you know that forgiveness is unending. You also know that we must leave our burdens at Jesus`s feet, and NOT pick them up again.I shall join in prayers and strenght for you.Greetings from Emmy,Your sister in Christ.
