  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

when we pray the sinners prayer and ask God to forgive all my sins is this just the past sins he forgives or the past present and future??
God forgives all the sins which we have committed in the past.

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

or in other words, everytime we mess up do we need to be forgiven for our sins to ensure salvatio:confused: n?
Yes. And everytime we fall into any sin in the future, we need to come to God again in prayer and seek His forgiveness.

1 John 2:1 - ...And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

The Lord bless you.

11For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
12As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

13Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.:bow::bow:
GLORY TO GOD!(Psalm 103 NAS)<emphasis is mine> God Bless!

Hi Dyin2Live,

Now our Lord Jesus Christ has forgiven your past sins when you are saved, when you pray the Sinner's Prayer of Salvation. Sadly, there are many distorted versions of this prayer, which has been contaminated by the new "new age" thinking and gospel that is being taught these days.

When a past sin keeps on coming to mind, I would say that it is being brought to your attention because there is still something hanging onto to your sins, such as unforgiveness.

You may have committed a sin, which may have affected other people. And you need to ask for their forgiveness. Forgiveness is a two-way thing, and a lot deeper than most Christians are led to believe by fairy-floss beliefs.

My ministry is FORGIVENESS, and I can assure that forgiveness is a lot deeper that what most like to believe.

Many tend to forget the enemy, and what rights he may still have on a person who had committed sins before being saved.

Yes, every time you mess up, then you have to confess, repent, renounce, and rebuke the enemy of your mess up, that is, SIN. SIN needs forgiveness in two different directions. Forgiveness from our Lord Jesus Christ, and forgiveness to or from the people involved in the SIN.

Now LOVE, is another part of forgiveness. You may forgive a person, but do you love them? Well it doesn't work that way at all. With forgiveness comes love!

If you have some real serious issues you wish to talk about then PM me, and I will give you some sound advice on forgiveness.

Love in Christ

You don't have to repent every sin to receive forgiveness for it, no. I think other people are covering the Scriptural authority for that.

When you enter into life with Christ you enter into a new life that finds and repents for sins that he sees. It's that life that sees and repents of sins, that's the life Christ has committed to giving you, and it shows you'll be forgiven for all unrighteousness. If you say you have no sin -- that is, if you've run out of things to be wrong about -- that's a lying kind of "new life" that isn't what Christ defends (check out the verses surrounding 1 John 1:9, e.g.). We're always dependent, and frankly we're always doing things in this life that are wrong.

David once prayed, "Forgive my secret faults, Lord." If you feel this is important, well David did, too. But God will forgive all unrighteousness, if you are continuing to confess sins you recognize in your life.

The "sinner's prayer" is more than than the forgiveness of sins. It represents your reconciliation with God. You can come before God through Jesus whereas you could not without him. The "sinner's prayer" signifies a change of heart where you have dedicated your life to following Christ. Jesus died for all sins past, present and future. But when you sin, there still needs to be an acknowledgement of your actions and a desire to turn away from them.

I don't believe that you're forgiven just by praying the sinner's prayer. The sinner's prayer is a good way to codify our need for a savior, but the Bible tells us that we're forgiven through repentence and faith. The problem with the sinner's prayer is that it's long on emotion and short on repentence. But that wasn't your question, was it.When someone is saved, they are forgiven once and for all. But even more than that, they're made righteous and they die to sin, so that while they may sin in the course of having a momentary moral lapse, they no long serve sin.

When we ask The Lord to forgive us.....
He forgives us of our sin...

The wages for sin (death) is no longer applicable to us, because Jesus has taken the death on at the cross.

The eternal punishment for past, present, future sin is gone.

Now....
As a follower of the Lord Jesus,
when I sin....
the right response is going to be repentence...
and asking to be forgiven.

It is just a right response.

I do not have to be saved all over again.
Jesus did that once. Done.
It is finished..... said Jesus.

I can still suffer all kinds of consequences for my past sins....and my future sins.

Hope this helps...

Have a Blessed Day...

You don't have to re-become a Christian every time you sin, but you do need to repent and recieve forgiviness.

"Jesus answered, 'A person who has had a bath needs only to wash his feet; his whole body is clean.'" - John 13:10a

I agree with this reply too! That is the symbolical meaning of what Jesus said in John 13:10.
