  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does anyone listen to music not from the U.S.?

I actually like it a lot better than the stuff they play on the radio today (besides oldies, of course). The newer music to me is just blah.

I like Saybia, a Danish band, Japanese music (a.k.a. J-pop), and Chinese pop.

Edit: To everyone who asked, It's all right if they still sing in English. Just as long as they're not from the U.S. ^^ Saybia actually does a lot of English. They're very good, but really hard to find. ><

I'm fairly international in my tastes. Of course, if by 'foreign' you mean 'non-English' that cuts out a huge chunk. I do listen to a variety, though. German Rap, German Industrial, French Rap, Visual Kei, J-Rock, J-Pop, Italo Disco (which I would lump into 'non-English', even though much of it is in English; most of the time the lyrics make no sense at all), Scandinavian Metal (although the stuff I listen to is generally in intelligible English), Gregorian chants, Russian Rock, and probably a few more I can't think of at the moment.

As for English-speaking countries, I like early 90's Britpop, Australian Rock, and the like.

One of my favorite bands is the Saw Doctors, who are Irish.

Does that count?

I like a lot of Oi that is foreing -- lately, the only Oi that has been pretty good has been foreign, it seems. Especially non-English language Oi, such as Orlik (Czechoslovakia), Los Fastidios (Italy), etc. I really enjoy the foreign sounds because they seem to be fresher and more free from overly stereotypical sounds.

Anyway, I listen to Shakira's old stuff, Julieta Venegas, some Ana Gabriel now and them, and Bjork, she's Icelandic. And Radiohead's British. And Ali Primera, who's from my home country, so that's foreign to you, I guess. And some of the old Jeanne Moreau songs. And I think Mia Doi Todd is French. i listen to her a lot.

I'm obsessed with Shakira, I have been listening to her non-stop lately. She is real popular in Spain (I was there for 10 days a few weeks ago). I only listen to her songs in Spanish, I don't like the ones in English.
Yes, her Spanish stuff is so much better. Donde Estan Los Ladrones is her best album to date, IMO.

My eclectic tastes include (but are not limited to):

  1. Kjøtt- punk, not usually my style, but I like these guys (Norway)
  2. Kodo- Japanese taiko drumming (Japan)
  3. Kaizers Orchestra- don't know how to describe them, except that they are amazing (Norway)
  4. The Pillows (Japan)
  5. Witches (Japan)
  6. Quarashi (Iceland)
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head, my two favorite being Kaizers Orchestra and Kodo.

To be honest, Sigur Ros hasn't lived up to the hype for me. I've listened to them a few times, but I just can't get into them.
