  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well, it would appear that Erwin has allowed this site to degenerate even further into moral and ethical relativism by 'relegating' its 'former' Christian ethos to a sub-forum non-descriptly entitled simply 'Faith' (the implication being that Judeo-Christianity is no better or worse than any other religious 'faith' (Humanism? Fundamentalist Islam? Satanism?)

Those of us who are orthodox conservative Evangelical Christians (and who do believe in the absolute nature of Truth) need to realize that this site is now no longer a Christian forum (though some of us still wonder if it ever really was?) and should now be regarded as a Secular Humanist forum paying 'lip-service' to Judeo-Christianity.

Being an Englishman I have first hand experience of what it means to live in an environment where Judeo-Christianity was once the predominant world-view but which has now, under the auspices of Secular Humanism, been relegated to the status of being a by-gone irrelevance, having been supplanted by rampant individualism predicated upon Man being the measure of all things. This in turn is now being supplanted by the imperialist colonialism of fundamentalist Islam as it seeks to impose itself upon all peoples, especially those who are not morally and ethically strong enough to resist, having abandoned their belief in moral absolutes.

Why is it the fundies see this as a bad thing, yet those on the butt end of the prosletyzing see this as a good thing?

To non-believers, Christian is no better than other faiths, matter of fact, other faiths are much better than Christianity, given the violence history of the religion. You think it's a compromise, I think it's dropping some of the hypocracy and the arrogance of actually thinkiing Christians are somehow better or more moral than non-believers when for many of us, those most horrid people we have ever had the displeasure of meeting have been Christians.

I've had a lot of experiance on different forums with Christians and in real life, and the amount of them that I have talked to that have turned out to be a complete antitheseis of Christ has left me with as bad a taste as Islam has.

As far as I'm concerned, the only difference between Islam and Christianity, in terms of violence, corruption, brutality, ect, is the fact the many of the historically CHristian nations have become first world nations whose populas has become educated enough to put the reigns on the authority of Christianity. The Islamic world has not done so.

Erwin made a decision. He sold out. He didnt want a Christian forum anymore where Christians could meet and fellowship with one another. It use to be titled "Christian Forums" and the web address was www.christianforums.com. After the changes he made previously, he has decided to go full circle and even change the name to "Foru.ms" and the web address www.foru.ms. It is now truly a secular forum. No different than other secular forums on the web. Erwin sold out. I guess I'll have to find a Christian forum where I can fellowship with other believers.

Who held a gun to your head and made you come here when it was a "Christian" forum. If you dont like Christians, it's pretty stupid to come to a "Christian" forum.

Foru.ums has a meaning behind it. Personally, the web name change doesn't change anything. If Pringles changed it's name tomorrow, it would still be a potatoe chip. The name means nothing. If anything, Erwin made a good choice. The name is more inviting to non-Christians. And people can't be spoken too if they don't come. This has never been a strictly Christian forum. If it had been, we wouldn't have to bother making certain forums Christian or non-Christian. We've always welcomed non-Christians. Now they'll just feel more comfortable and as long as we welcome them, it'll be easier to outreach to them.

Seems to me that there's simply too much elitism and selective Christianity.

This is not like pringles changing the name and its still being a pringle potato chip. This is more like placing dung in a potato chip mold and people believing its a potato chip in spite of the stench.........some people will swallow anything and come back for seconds.

Observation: younger people don't have a problem with the name change, while older people do. I've noticed that older people have a problem with change and teenagers and young adults basically don't care as long as the actual format doesn't change. You're blowing it way out of proportion. You can start worrying when they start allowing cussing and create a non-Christians only section.

lolo really thefathersdaughter ? I do not have to be bitten by a snake to know its a snake.

Then what does experience have to do with anything? You just contradicted yourself. I on the other hand HAVE experience web changes. I've never seen a NAME change affect the community within.

This is more than a name change.
Although with your lack of experience or failure to learn from what experience your 16 yrs has given you, it don't surprise me that you would only see a name change and not the whole picture.
With your lack of wisdom and where you are spiritually in the Lord, hinders you to be able to see.
There is no contradiction.

No, child, it's not that we don't like change. Adults and not children have a better grasp of what is a reality and a true faith system.

It's called life experience, knowledge and maturity that only being older can provide.

This is not particularly true.

I really don't care about the name change. I care about the fact that what once was ChristianForums has become a place where derogatory people come to flame others, call names, and make fun of people of faith.

On the other hand, nobody is holding a gun to anybody's head. If this is no longer a forum where Christians want to be, then anybody is free to leave. And by the looks of it, about one-third of the people that used to be here have left.
