By cladistics we are fish. But to avoid breaking the fragile brains of deniers we say "We are vertebrates.". It says the same thing and is not quite as threatening.

^_^ I don't have much of a problem with the theory of evolution anyhow. If God made us from fish, who am I to argue?

I never make the mistake of conflating creationist with Christian. Creationists do not like it, but they are a minority of Christians. Even in the U.S., where there appear to be more creationists in any first world country outside of Turkey they are a minority. So I am never going to say that someone that accepts evolution is not a Christian.

It's not. " since we came from the ocean ".

Fish are distant ancestors. Emergence onto land
was from fresh water.

And people are not fish.

You make ToE look stupid saying such things.

This is a hypothethis. I am not aware of any agreement on the matter. Do you have a citation that would substantiate your claim?

Macroevolution is just taking a bird’s eye view of a long series of microevolutions. What I find interesting are the starts & stops, the changes of rates of speed of evolution. I don’t think it’s random mutation I think it’s biased mutation, biased towards creating a vast array of species.

Memory from comparative anatomy, that the
transitional forms are all from fresh water habitats.

Note that the only surviving actinopterygian is
from salt water, an added surprise after the line had
apparently died out 66 Mya.

No living amphibian can survive salt water,
and except for mudskippers I believe all fish
with air breathing capacity - hardly of value in the ocean-
and those venturing on land are fresh water.

Still, sure, I stated as fact that which cannot be
what our creofriends would call "proven ".

I agree the odds lean that way, though I felt brackish water origins were favoured, but the last time I seriously studied the matter was half a century ago, long before titaalik and similar.

The difference between you two having a discussion and willing to learn from it and a creationist who doesn't even accept the basic premise is light years.

That's because I know I could be wrong. I remember it happened once before in 1978, but I eventually got over it. :)

No fair, I'd not even had a chance to be wrong yet.

The only ones I've heard talking about True Christians are Christians. .

I'm often surprised at how quickly Christians are willing to eat their own. IMHO, Christians need to stop worrying about atheists. It's their fellow Christians that seem to be a bigger issue.
