do u have any sources for your claims? also for everyone else the passage is very clear in my eyes. it says everything was created by God and was that way. evolution says that things must be added. a dinosaur to bird requires a new species. if the time scale is correct new things are being created out of what we see. this contradicts scripture.

If you don't think evolution is true then you're not a theistic evolutionist. If you believe in OEC and not evolution you're off on some tangent that few people see. I've heard some people say that the earth is old and that God created the animals over time. However that's a very minority view.

That is generally called "progressive creationism." You are not a theistic evolutionist (or any sort of evolutionist) unless you believe that living things (or the lion share of them anyway) share a geneology. Not just a shared body plan created separately by God, but literally have the same great, great, great,..., great grandparents.

Old Earth progressive creationism is similar to theistic evolution in what happened (the appearence and disappearence of many living things through out the long history of the Earth), but differ in how it happened.

It says "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." this, to me says evolution is wrong because it says what we have today was created by things we could have seen. just looking for feedback thanks

I don't want to be nitpicky...but the verse does say "the universe", right?
When you think about it all of the fundamental building blocks (ie superstrings, etc) are not and may never be 'visible' (if you want to take that passage literally...I wouldn't)

I think that this passage was really intended to distinguish the creative power of humans from the creative power of God. Humans can only create from what already exists. Clearly God has the ability to make the universe from a formless void. And we believe that by faith, right?

And what about Genesis 2:7?... "the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground..."

Dust...something 'visible'. And the idea that humans are derived from the various elements that make up the earth's crust seems to agree quite well with evolution. And the text says that God 'formed' the man..implying a process, not a sudden instantaneous appearance.

That verse is talking about how God formed the universe out of nothing, thus making it out of something "invisible". It does not mean that nothing new can ever be created in the world. Evolution could just be how the things that God initially created in the universe have changed over time. But of course, that's just one opinion.

As for progressive creationism, I think the leading proponent of this view is Hugh Ross, the astrophycisist, and the Reasons to Believe group:

I like this site (even though I disagree with many of his conclusions) because he is an ardent Old Earther (being an astrophycisist and all), but is an equally ardent opponent of evolution. This is useful when YEC's come along insisting that an "old earth" is simply an accomodation to evolution.

Does evolution "say" or does it have evidence to support its claims? It is important to analyze both concepts and see which one has "evidence" to back up its statements and which does not on each claim and category. I think this will also help you in your personal search.

Far be it from me to take things so literally in the Bible but...

Can you 'see' a molecule of RNA? Certainly none of the writers of the Bible had the technology to see it either. Everything is made from things that are not 'visible' when you think about it.

Here's where the problem is. You see, to you evolution is wrong, but to Christians who accept modern science, it has been proven beyond a doubt.
