One example. I had always known that Jews found compelling reasons for why they didn't see Jesus as the Messiah. I recently have been able to explore that question in greater detail. There was link put up to Rabbai Singers talks that were extremely educational.

Hi everyone.

Firstly, i am definitely not trying to start a debate here. But i am curious as to why people of other faiths, and even atheists, frequent CF.

Are you searching? Are you stimulated by the discussions here? Do you like debating and asserting your own beliefs in the context of these discussions? Are you bored? Are you wanting to know more about Christianity?

Again, no debate intended, i'm just curious.

Cheers

Sarah
u don't want to start a debate but this question is not above the other mundane bigotry insults and comments that people throw around in this forum... with the way u worded things ur implying that they don't belong here if they aren't Christian. not worth responding to in my opinion.

I was invited by a someone who used to go to another chat board that was sponsored by a church. She had left that church and didn't want to spend as much time there and invited me here. She was hoping I think to have someone familiar to interact with.

I am not searching. I sometimes and interested in various discussions. I actually like having the opportunity to interact with the other non-Christians. This is where I can ask practicing members questions about Hinduism, Islam, Bahai, Sihkism, Wicca, Druidism, and Judaism.
ty for ur intellectual and positive response. i would think it would be that obvious to everyone.

Around 18 months ago I eventually found I could no longer ignore the issues I had with the hell doctrine and began questioning that and other things which I'd previously just accepted. At first, I remained Christian but became more liberal but after some time I found myself wondering if there even was a god at all. I looked at the arguments for and against. The past year has been almost like a grieving process as I try to accept the loss of my faith and there has been many times when I've tried to turn back and try to find a kind of Christianity I can accept. Now I'm an atheist. I stick around here as I know people here and in order to keep learning.
I invite u to learn about islam.... with open heart & NOT with pre-conceived notions in ur mind.

Hi universal.

I'm sorry that the way i have worded my question has offended you. My intention was definitely not to offend anyone with insult or bigotry, or cause anyone to feel excluded or unwelcome. I'm sorry that what i have written may has come across to you that way.

So i can avoid doing this again, could you please post or PM me advising me of the specific words or phrases that offended you, and perhaps outline how you would have preferred that i worded my post? I would find this very helpful.

Thanks universal, and again, i am sorry for causing you offence.

Personally, I'm here for the debating. I was raised Christian, so I don't need to know anymore about it, and I'm no longer searching either. I will say I found this place when my friend introduced me to it when she was "dabbling" into Christianity. I joined the site for her and stayed for the debate.

Im a member of many different forums all have something to do with religion, im interested in human obsession with constructed belief's and how different ideas interact.

Plus its good to be challenged and i seek that. I also hope i challenge other's beliefs.

I'm not really here that often, although I do check in a few times just rarely post.

I joined here when I was looking at Christianity and interested in becoming part of it, but later found Asatru and preferred that much more. I check in from time to time just to read some of the post in the hobbies section, etc. Not much else really.

Hello again.

I thought i'd revive this one and ask some more questions. It is now almost 6 months down the track. My new questions are:

In the last six months, or since you've frequented CF:

1) On the whole, have you enjoyed or not enjoyed the discussions here? Why or why not?
2) If you came into CF with certain views about Christians/Christianity/God, have they been challenged or reinforced? How/why?
3) Have you become more/less/just as interested in Christianity/God than you were six months ago?
4) Have your reasons for frequenting CF changed in the last six months?
5) Have you become a Christian, or have you become more interested in Christianity?
6) Any further comments?

Just as before, i am curious and i do not intend to start a debate. I hope you had a nice Christmas (or solstice!) and i hope you have a cool new year.

Cheers

I am here to learn mostly, about lots of different religions. Occasionally i go to General Theology when I have a Question on Christianity, but I visit this section mostly where I don't feel as much like an "outsider." due to less Christian focus here.

I like seeing how many perceptions there are and having an opportunity to examine what I think by looking at other people's views and questions, and share My view as well.

I was also part of another board but Religion Topics were banned over there because several people kept being disruptive so one of the participants there who also posts here recommended me to this site. And I've dropped in here a lot since then.

Hi Gray!
Gray invited me from the same forum she talked about in the above post. We had pretty good conversation there and we miss discussing different religious beliefs/non beliefs.
I'm not here to look for anything in particular. I browse mostly. But, I am looking for more people who share my belief in deism. Used to be baptist, but it bores me now.

1) On the whole, have you enjoyed or not enjoyed the discussions here? Why or why not?
No, I have not enjoyed the discussions at all. I came here looking for answers to specific questions. Christians want nothing to do with my questions.

2) If you came into CF with certain views about Christians/Christianity/God, have they been challenged or reinforced? How/why?
My beliefs are constantly reinforced when Christians evade my questions.

3) Have you become more/less/just as interested in Christianity/God than you were six months ago?
I'm not interested in Christianity. I keep asking why I should be interested but no Christian wants to prove their position to me.

4) Have your reasons for frequenting CF changed in the last six months?
No. Still here for the same reason - to ask why I should give up my non-Christian religion.

Originally I came as a struggling Christian at the behest of a friend. Ultimately, I left the church and stuck around during my angry phase to try and show others the error of their ways. Once I wasn't angry anymore, I found the conversations to be very enlightening and I rather enjoy them.

Mainly, I stay because I spent a very long time convinced that I was right and it didn't benefit me at all. Now, I refuse to accept that idea. I am here to engage in conversation that might just change the way I see things.

I came upon the non-Christian section of these forums recently while searching for something on google, and it looks like a good place for interfaith discussion and debate. I'm not seeking personally. I know my faith. Still, if I ever have any questions about any religion, I know I can get good answers from people here.
