John Field was an early 19th century pianist, who is credited with inventing the nocturne. Chopin greatly admired him and supposedly modeled his nocturnes on Field's music.
Michael Balfe was a Victorian era composer. His best known work is I Dreamt I Dwelt In Marble Halls, from his opera, The Bohemian Girl. Enya does a nice modernized rendition. Very pretty song.
