  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anyone else seen this Christian film? It's about a young family who convert to Christianity, and their spiritual growth, and their interactions with the everyday people in their life. It features some Billy Graham clips also.

It's interesting because it's as if everyone they come in contact with is very skeptical of Christianity. It's weird.

I don't know if things were really like that in 1968. I'm so glad that it's not that way anymore. Or, at least, it doesn't seem that way. Not that it's perfect. But no one hassles you for being a Christian these days.

I saw it was coming on TBN, but missed it. It sounds really great.
Maybe they should remake it and update it?

I think it's a great movie. No need to remake it! To me it seems like this kind of Christian movie sort of exists "outside of time." The time setting doesn't really matter. 1968 is close enough to today that it's practically the same period.

That being said, however...they could make a well-produced movie with similar themes. I just don't like remakes. I'd rather see a movie written freshly from today's point of view.

Plus, Billy Graham was the big travelling evangelist of the time. He made it sound like the Christian life was not the easy thing people used to think it was. He told people it was a challenge at times. Who would we use today, Joel Osteen? I don't know about that...

Why not still be able to use Billy or his son Franklin?
It can be updated as a lot of young people may not be drawn toward older sets and such. But yes, I agree we do need similar films out today.

Possilby. But his son may not have the same cultural impact. It may work, though. Who knows.
