• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Shed your fear. Since you believe in Jesus you will never be condemned. When you shelter yourself with the Lord, no harm will come your way. If you are fearful, you will start to worry, which causes stress, which then causes sickness. Nip at the root of your problems which is fear.

Yes I've been through that, "You're doomed," thoughts, I've gotten over them. I used to be terrified of what could happen, but nothing ever happened so I realized that it's just the enemies lies. You are on the right track, don't let go of God. Seek His face every day so He can heal this land.

Right. When all of my intrusive thoughts happened, I just knew that I was going to be punished so bad. Like, I was going to wreck my car or I wouldn't get a job I applied for. I've been nothing but blessed. I am struggling in my education job. I have had nothing but interim positions in the last 2 years, but that's still a big blessing. I feel Him here in this post. I really like talking to you AllDayFaith! Matthew 18:20
"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

That's how you know when your thoughts are false, when they oppose the Bible. God says you are a precious child of His, worth more than all the diamonds in the world.

Thanks guys. I'm worried about being numb and feeling distant. I want to want to care..if that makes sense. Every time I get a thought that feels like agree with it, I feel unsaved.

Its easy to remember that there's not any confusion in Christ. Not saying that you are not in Christ- tell that thought to take a hike! Cast Satan away in the name of Christ. I have felt the same way, an unsaved feeling. It makes you feel like you don't know The Lord because you think that this is really you and it isn't. It might even make you feel like you were never saved because of these thoughts are overwhelming your mind to the point that you are like, "oh, wow, is this me?" Then you tell yourself yes.

Go to Ephesians 6:10-18! I was told to go here and pray this. If you could read a chapter from the bible a day and just meditate on whatever you're reading and pray about it, you will see some solutions along with some scripture memorizing. I had a rough morning yesterday or two days ago. Brain fog is real... Read this passage and pray it! God sees us struggling. I am with you.

Are you receiving professional help for your OCD from either a counselor and/or psychiatrist? I also have OCD and see a doctor for medication management which helps a lot.

No, unfortunately. Can't afford it. I'm scared to let my family find out about my problem. They'll think I'm possessed.

Today is bad. I can use some prayers. My mind keeps questioning God's goodness because of some of the OT laws. I look up articles about it and I'm ok one minute, then later on to keep questioning Him. I can't stand this

I would suggest looking into local resources. My county has a mental illness center with service fees offered at a sliding scale.

Why would your family think you're possessed?

I find that part of my problem is when I'm in a situation of being at a lose end. Lately, I decided to join a gym in order to try to be active in times of inactivity in order to focus on exercising instead of being isolated and alone with demonic thoughts and emotions. I have yet to go to the gym but I know its better for me to be active and around others rather than in a situation of inactivity dwelling on my negative thoughts and emotions listening to the lies of the devil. That's why its also good to fellowship with believers in these forums as we are engaging with each other and encouraging each other rather than engaging with evil forces behind bad thoughts which desire to tear us down.

I think the devil and his minions love to isolate us away from others and drag us down with toxic thoughts and emotions until they have us in a place of fear and confusion unable to function feeling hopeless and sometimes drained. I have at times sank into such a depression that I felt numb with despair without the desire to do anything or be around anyone literally not wanting to exist. Yet when I would put myself around others and try to do things regardless of how small although it at times felt difficult it somehow helped as I wasn't so engaged and focused on demonic thoughts and emotions.

I am still in a daily battle but just want to encourage you to keep battling on as in time you will get through by continuing to reach out to Jesus hoping in his mercies which are new everyday.

Lamentations 3:21-26 (KJV)

21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

22 It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

I agree that getting exercise and social stimulation can be very helpful! However, mental illness is not demonic. It's a type of disorder/sickness, just like a physical illness. Just want to clarify that for the sake of those who might be reading who have OCD and other mental disorders...

At the same time, I feel I must likewise honor the truth in the Scriptures which shows that at times mental illness can also be demonic in which at times we should do as Jesus did which is to identify and cast out demons. I struggle with mental health problems myself some of which are ocd in nature and I have at times had demons cast out of me with manifestations which then went on to improve my mental health so I must honor and testify to the truth.

Luke 8:35 (KJV)
35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
