• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is this all part of a new ben? We have a new Jim....^_^:D
Meet the new Ben, same as the old Ben.

Seriously, I can be quite cogent at times. 2 things really rile me up though, nonsense prophecy and judaizing.

I'm thinking God will hold those accountable for what they prophecy. I'm not sure it's our business to hold them accountable. We have the right to say we disagree or don't believe that to be true or whatever. I'm just not sure it's our place to hold them accountable. I, for one, believe God knows and sees all and doesn't miss one word we say. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the prophecy told. Time will tell.

This is only an observation, not directed to anyone.

I find it very interesting that these 'prophets' have no real issue pointing the supposed weaknesses and sins of ministers, people and even whole nations, they say it's 'corrective' or a warning. They say prophets speak hard words and we should be disturbed by their message or emphasis of impending doom. Basically saying we should be a little thicker skinned when it comes to their messages.

That is until the message itself is being called into question. Defensive sloganeering such as, 'God will be the judge, just you wait and see, you are speaking against the very word of god, get's splashed around.

It just gets me wondering a bit. Maybe their skin should be a little thicker, and their hearts and minds a little more open to people. They might get received a whole lot better.

But to all on CF:

Thus saith the Lord of Hosts!

I thinkest thou art wonderful and have loved you from the beginning.

Give a "prophecy" in old english!^_^

I don't suppose that would automatically disqualify the prophesy. Maybe that is the Bible language they are familiar with. Doesn't the scripture say that the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophets. This could mean influenced by their own tradition and experience or just a general command that prophesy should be open to the process of discernment by others with a prophetic gift. I always felt it was the former scenario and that some of the weirdness in presentation shaking or use of grandiose language is subject to the prophets own desires. The message may still be ok though.

I don't know if I would say unkind. Saying the Emperor has no clothes is a statement of fact that no one else may be willing to vocalize.

Elijah, I honestly think the world of you. We have some differences, but I completely respect you as an Elder in the Body and find that although we may disagree you walk in humility. Point of fact, I agree with you quite often and once you posted something so profound, my only response was a wow from the depth of my soul. I use wit as a disarming device. I want to disagree with people and have people disagree with me without being disagreeable in temperment as many often are when they have theological differences.

And yes, it is because you are an Aussie. Just be glad you aren't a Kiwi (note: the previous statement was tongue in cheek)

I agree, and I didn't mean to infer that anyone is a weirdo, my statement was more about lack of desire to have what I said tested. That particular poster and I have gone round and round before about their lack of desire to back any statements up, which is reckless at best.

Maybe you are unaware of it, you come across (and it is a very good thing IMHO) as a very trusting person that tends to think the best of people. I am very cynical and am tired of seeing people attach a God tag to things that are opinion. Opinion is fine, just recognize it as such. Folks such as Hal Lindsey and Edgar C. Whisenant would have done people a huge service if they told us what they were saying were opinions, instead they presented it as gospel truth.

The issue was they refused to be held accountable for what they said my friend.

Yup I tagged a thread with double yawn. I also admitted it. That particular poster and I do not get along for a variety of reasons. Mostly because I find what they say shallow, never really wishing to discuss how they arrived at what it is they are saying, relying more on emotionalism. Yes, that was an opinion and they have never been willing to try to change that opinion.

Thanks for that BA, now I know who BA is---I think!:D
