  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Relax, it's just a writing advice book by John Warner. Has anyone read it?

I bought it, and it's hilarious!

In one chapter, he analyzes the 12 tips Stephen King came up with regarding writing:

Be germ-free.

Stephen King said to "be neat," so I figure we take it one step further and it's all the better. Buy bacteria-resistant paper. Autoclave your pens. Write while wearing a level three hazmat suit.

Later, he gives the four types of story conflict:

Man vs. Man
Man vs. Nature
Man vs. Himself
Man vs. Windows Operating System when that godforsaken blue screen of death pops up and even pressing control-alt-delete doesn't work, and you're getting ready to just unplug the darn thing and all you want to do is hop on a plane to Seattle and kick Bill Gate's butt!

He has some good advice, but presents it in a hilarious, sarcastic way. Tip: If you buy this book, don't read it in the middle of class or any other place that's supposed to be somewhat serious.

I'd look into it, but I'm afraid I might buy it, and I cn't afford that right now. I have to save up around $250 for an ISBN block to establish myself as a publisher. After that, I still need anywhere from a hundred or so to a few thousand. It depends on how many books I need.

I'll have to warn you, it has some kinda bad stuff in it. There's a chapter on how to write sex scenes (which I skipped, and it's only 3 pages long, anyway) and there's a couple bad words. Other than that, it's a great book.

Wow. Have fun with that! But wouldn't getting a literary agent make this whole thing a lot easier?
