  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Follow me. Jesus is saying, “Follow Me.”

Jesus beckons today to follow Him in living, and if need be, in dying. Follow wholly to His example of living. Where does one begin? By doing what Jesus did. He got up a long while before day and went up on the mountain alone to pray. Jesus, Son of Man, God made son, sought time to be with His Father. Jesus also studied the scriptures. At the age of 12 He knew the scriptures so well He was teaching the scribes and lawyers, the teachers of the law. He often spent all night in prayer. Jesus always heard what the Father was saying, and always did those things that please Him. He fasted. He resisted the devil by answering every temptation with the Word of God. He followed every directive He received of the Father. He was moved with compassion. He went about destroying the works of the devil. He went about teaching and preaching, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil. He wasn’t controlled by His feelings. His sole purpose was to carry out His Father’s plan for His life. He came to reveal His Father. He said, “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.”

Notice, Jesus did not say to Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom collecting taxes, start going to the synagogue, and paying your tithes. He didn’t even tell him to be born again. He said, “Follow Me.”

Let Jesus today lead you. Follow Him in His way of living. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, to die for us, that we may live for Him. The things He shows us to do are things that will bring life to us. He knows how to live. He knows the way to victory. He knows how to overcome. He knows how to walk in freedom. He has come to bring life, and life more abundant, yet it won’t be found in continuing in the ways of the world. It won’t be found in living like all the rest of the masses, doing things the way they do things. It is found in doing things the way God does things. This life won’t be found in walking in old habits. It is found in a new and living way. It is essential to renew the mind. We must think His thoughts to walk in His ways, and to have His abundant life. We must crucify the flesh. The works of the flesh reap corruption, and those that practice those things will not receive the kingdom of God. Those who are Christ’s have put off the flesh, and follow after righteousness, faith, and love. They walk after the spirit. They are God ruled. They follow Christ Jesus.

Jesus beckons today “Follow Me.” Jesus calls. With a sparkle in His eye, He is drawing with cords of love, powerfully strong cords, compelling us to forsake our way of life to walk in His way of life. What is better? What will give you give in exchange? What will you forfeit for short lived pleasure? What great, eternal, satisfying path are you forsaking to gain short lived pleasure that fades in time?

Jesus commands, “Follow Me. Follow Me for the greatest adventure, beyond what you think is possible, beyond what you can imagine. Leave everything. Don’t look back. Do it now.”
