  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, I am aware of the removal of Sodomy Laws. What a great day it was for our country when the last state to hold them repealed them! :clap:

As for what it should mean to you...in the words of the Rolling Stones "You [Christian Centurion] can't always get what you want." Praise the Lord for that!
Sure, I'll go along with the general sentiment.
If I was left to "getting what I wanted" from day one, I would probably be dead or at least dead in my transgressions and coming to that end.
So, I suppose the Lord is to be praised for that.
... but I suspect that was NOT what you meant. ;)
America is on its way to becoming a free country for real! Glory be to God!

Tell me please, which god would that be that exalts sodomy? :scratch:

Mumbai, apparently you are out of the reputation system but if you were in it you'd have gotten points here! Bless you and your witness.

That poll, in the wording given in any case, is somewhat suspect; I'd be interested to see how those numbers change with change in wording, specifically from "marriage" to "civil union according a, b, and c", enumerating all the rights and responsibilities of marriage.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it almost go the other way. There are probably a lot of people who have trouble dissociating marriage from their religion.

The claim opposition to same gender marriage is "vast" is false. The opposition is weaking little by little most especially due to the dying off of our oldest generations and the younger folks not having been scarred by the homophobia and heterosexism which affected their elders.
Hmm... now all old people are evil?
Don't be mistaken, I fully understand where denouncing wisdom and experience only to have hope in the naive and uneducated would come into play in all this. Cultists also find it easier to mold the mind when there is no guardianship. It is exactly why the gay advocates are attempting to subtly indoctrinate children through the government school system.

Sort of fitting that you just referenced a key item that is exposed in reflection of Rom 1 and violates honoring thy mother and father.
{snip rhetoric for brevity}

How sad that you feel compelled to engage in hate speech.
I see you only prove my earlier point to fall once again back on the ad hominem as opposed to addressing what is said. It also reveals why you gravitate to sources like the one you referenced. A source, I might add, that even you mentioned needing a clean-up to be palatable on a Christian forum.

This saying is indeed true:

Mark 7:21-23
21For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' "
{snip attempt at misrepresentation of my post}.

This doesn't make sense to me. Are you saying that you are suicidal? Really, I am confused. If that is indeed what you are saying, please PM me, and I can put you in touch with people who can help. That's not an insult, it's an offer of help to a brother in Christ.

Tell me please, which god would that be that exalts sodomy? :scratch:

God doesn't exalt sodomy by two consenting, committed adults (notice I didn't say married because unless you feel like moving to MA, it's not allowed...YET ;)) any more than he exalts marital heterosexual sex. I don't see any Biblical passages that CLEARLY say that homosexuality is evil (please no KJV, I don't get on well with Rennaissance English). God DOES exalt those who love the Lord God with all their heart and soul and love their neighbors (gays included) as themselves.

God bless,
Mumbai

Thread has been reopened after review.

As always, this topic can become very heated. If you need to take a break, please do so.

Also, please keep in mind our rules when posting and avoid the flaming remarks.

2.1 No Flaming

You will not "flame" other members or groups of members. Flaming includes, but is not limited to:
- Ridiculing, insulting, or demeaning another member or group of members;
- Ridiculing another member's beliefs;
- Ridiculing public figures important to another's religious beliefs;
- Stating or implying that another member or group of members who have identified themselves as Christian are not Christian;
- Calling or describing other people, groups, belief-systems, or ideas as heresy or a cult (or derivatives of these words). Instead of using these emotionally charged words, please state "X is wrong because of Y" rather than using these words in polemical discussion;
- Asking loaded questions that directly cause flames in response;
- Using sarcasm to attempt any of the above; and
- Threats of any sort, including advocating or supporting physical or mental harm against another living creature (this creature clause does not apply to political discussions of military action, hunting/fishing discussions nor ethical discussions of capital punishment).

I used to not care about whether it was called "civil union" or "marriage". Then I learned since it is every bit as holy as heterosexual matrimony it should be called the same since it is the same morally.

If it was "civil union" only the numbers in most blue states are positive in the 70s and probably almost as high in the Western Red States but not in places like Alabama.

Considering how most of it is committed by heterosexual married couples the same guy as usual.

I won't bother to ask how you know what 'most' married couples do; nor do I see how moral relativism relates to a god... unless that is the god being referred to.

Masters and Johnson?

"Moral Relativism" is just something fundamentalists accuse others of doing while they do it themselves just as much or more.

You mean the wisdom of our forefather who owned slaves and subjegated woman?

Spin it all you want, but painting older generations as perfectly wise, whose knowledge and traditions should never be questioned or examined is completely stupid.

Perhaps you should heed your own advice.
