Flipping through the channels looking for Xmas programming

...and come across Jimmy Swaggart doing his spiel in front of a ton of people.

Not sure which part I find most disturbing...the fact he can still get an audience...or the fact he can apparently not only get any audience...but also bilk enough cash out of them to be playing a $200k+ piano.

was it an old video? Swaggart has sold lots and lots of gospel albums, too. Maybe that's where his piano fund came from. He's very skilled on the piano, if you've ever seen clips of it. Those are appropriate fingers for a piano of that quality. I hear he learned to play on the same piano as his cousin Jerry Lee Lewis.

He had that big scandal way back when, and I haven't heard more than an hour from him sense, probably. But I heard part of a sermon from him surfing through YouTube a while back. For his type of speaking, he is also a very skilled public speaker, the way he builds up and his skillful use of pauses.

It looked pretty recent - and he looked older than I remember (from what I could tell) - so I was assuming it was live. I could be wrong, though, of course... but really... what stations would be looking for vintage Jimmy Swaggart programs to air?

The piano was a Bosendorfer - which is just a beautiful/awesome instrument.

The last I heard, he was still alive and on the air, but not on nearly as many channels as he was in the 1980's.

I don't know anything about pianos, but Swaggart sure is skilled at playing one for his style of music, unless that's diminished with age. He'd have to have agile fingers for some of that stuff he'd do.

Jerry Lee doesn't seem the type to pay a complement just to be nice. I've seen Swaggart play live before, way back when. He's really talented. It's not my favorite style of music, but he sure was skilled on the piano. I don't know if is fingers are still that limber.

Sad thing is that the holiday movies and specials are STILL playing. Put in a nice 'family movie' instead - "Falling Down" with Michael Douglas.
