  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I wonder who has played/used these.

I have flown planes like a cessna in x plane 11, the really big planes are harder to fly and land then the smaller planes.
I think I "flew" a 767 once, in a simulator (or it might have been an Airbus, I don't remember).

I did co-pilot a real Piper, I think it was, some years ago.

About six years ago I used to play on a fight sim. Got the lawn in my tires every time. I wasn't very good at it.

Yea, the big planes are faster on landing and you are sitting much higher....So the runway "looks" a lot smaller and a more difficult target to hit with the big planes!^_^

Try the Beechcraft Baron, I think it's even easier to fly than the Cessna but with better performance and nice looking interior. Just the wings blocks some of the view.

I crashed almost all of my landings too. Which is why I decided I was never going to try being a pilot for real.

As a pilot of small planes (Piper Cherokee, Cessna 150) I think landing an actual plane would be easier...you see the runway in 3D; better spatial perception.

Maybe. but with a simulator I just reload and I'm flying again. No messy bent metal to deal with, and no bloody mess.

Not to mention, you have "perfect" control hardware (orders of magnitude more expensive than the desktop joystick!) that provides realistic force feedback, greater resistance at higher speeds. Actual G-forces, infinite visual resolution (that one is actually very important)

The sim is only easier in terms of being more forgiving in damage. You can probably touchdown at -1000 fpm without a scratch. An entirely different outcome in real life.

Here's a fun video of gyroplane landing training. Great visuals. It's my next flying project once this virus thing is over. I watch it in Chrome, won't play in Internet Explorer.

My son trains pilots for the military, He took me to work one day and put me on the flight simulator . I never successfully got off the ground.^_^

In the absence of flight manual, I would pseudo-randomly push buttons until something works ^_^
