• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Flickering "lights" in my left peripheral vision.

It's always the same location on my left peripheral vision. It's almost blinking like morse code. It comes and goes. The "light" is oval or cigar-shaped. It is visible even in the dark.

I suspect something is putting pressure on my optical nerves. I can't afford to get it checked. Is anyone had similar experience and can tell what it is? No headaches nor any other negative symptoms whatsoever but I worry getting these blinking lights when I'm riding my bicycle or skating on the streets it can cause dangerous distraction.

I been using morse code to try to get a message through , but there's still a few problems with it working.

:)

Good for you!

I've only been seeing the blinking lights just a few days ago and had one just a couple minutes ago. Pure coincidence that few days ago, drones started showing up all over USA.

I won't bother learning Morse Code to try to decode it. I'm hoping it's nothing but random blinking.

What you described reminds me of what my eye doctor refers to as a retinal migraine, or optical migraine. There is no headache involved, but I sometimes see colorful squiggly lines blocking out my vision. It makes it a little hard to see for about 10 minutes, and then it goes away. From what I've read about it, it doesn't seem to be serious. It might be what you're experiencing.

This is migraine:

This is what I have (excluding the green arrow) and it goes on and off like a Morse Code. It doesn't block my vision but it can seem like there's a car coming from my left flashing their headlights towards me.

I’ve seen flashing lights out at the left and was told it was migraine syndrome. Not the headache but maybe a signal that one is coming on. One never did. A little annoying and scary at first.

I have migraines with auras and flickering visions as well but I always get headaches and dizziness as well when I do. The visions last several minutes in my case and the headaches persist for the whole day and there can be major obscuring of my visual field. If I'm riding my bicycle when I have migraine, I stop and wait for the visions to subside.

The flicking lights I get that I described in this thread are much shorter in duration. They don't seem to last more than 20 seconds, no headaches, no dizziness, and the rest of the visual field is perfectly normal. I can continue riding my bicycle and as soon as I recognize the problem, I simply ignore it and not let it distract me.

Many of the results I'm getting over the internet are talking about brain tumor.

/s/ OH GOODIE! Tons of money money money if pursued accordingly, even if it is just a vitamin, mineral of electrolyte imbalance (a lot more common, but not nearly as PROFITABLE!)

Don't worry. I can't afford brain surgery anyway if it turns out to be brain tumor.

But I can do some experiments to try to get rid of the tumor non-invasively. Just simple experiments nothing that will even cost me a dime.

Don't worry. The answer is hidden for now; but maybe soon to be revealed. Trust God not man.

I edited my post that you quoted.

I also had three major head injuries from childhood that never received any treatment. I started having migraines originating from these injury sites since childhood.

There might be inert mass from these past injuries that can act like a tumor. The Holy Spirit seems to be teaching me how to get rid of it without costing me anything. Totally free treatment.

I stopped having migraines and headaches but now I'm getting something different. Ofc it makes me wonder if whatever that used to be there is still there.

Do you know how to find , if one is available , a tester that is able to identify or verify which of up to a thousand different toxins , mini-reals :) , vite-a-mins, en-zymes and so on .... correctly , accurately , helpfully, and not cost a thumb and an ear ?
It took years for us to find someone doing this honest, but they are invaluable and helpful as God Permits.
We found a lot also through people who had been healed and stay healed for decades , living a healthy life, after finding out the truth.

wonder if whatever that used to be there is still there.

It would be a good idea to check your blood pressure and sugar levels.

I don't know what state you live in but we have affordable or even free health care now. Eye issues are a medical condition and covered by insurance. Go see your medical doctor, and get a referral to an Ophthalmologist ASAP. Flashes in your eye is nothing to ignore. Prayers for your fast recovery! Blessings.

Might well be. Blood pressure is normal though. 125/78 and heart rate is 42 bpm. I engage in athletic activities that's why my heart rate seems unusually low. I don't have a device for measuring blood sugar but I don't exhibit any symptoms of blood sugar imbalance

I don't live in USA and healthcare is not free where I live. It's simply not an option for me having financial problems in addition.

I depend entirely on the Lord and people's free advice for my healthcare.

I wouldn’t like to make the stretch to a brain tumor. Lots of people have migraines and don’t have tumors. I don’t know what causes them. You should be doing ok if you are getting exercise in the BP department. I would say stress contributes to them from job or marriage or…. Sorry can’t help any more. Maybe read a medical book topic.

I have untreated head injuries from childhood. I've had frequent and debilitating/painful migraines with aura ever since. Pretty much ruined my life.

I haven't had a migraine in the last couple months. Not even a headache even when I had flu. I always had painful headaches with migraines and the new flickering visions is quite different. No pain, no headaches.

The reason I'm getting brain tumor from search results is the flashing lights at the corner of my eye also goes with image distortion at the same location. Many of the results say the distortion is due to something pressing on the optic nerves. If the onset is sudden like in my case, it could be tumor.

There is an experimental treatment I can do if it turns out to be tumor. The Holy Spirit actually let me to it many months before, long before I suspect of tumor. I can do the treatment on my own and doesn't cost any money at all, I don't even need to buy anything.
