  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

First... Paul is writting to those who wish to have a closer walk with God. Flee fornication because fornication is a hinderence to one's spiritual life with God.

Second... Fornication is a physical activity that is draining on the spiritual experience with God. Hard to rest in the Presence of God with fornication on your mind.

I think all Christians are called to have a closer walk with God.

Or is Christianity an optional thing for some? That we should be Christians only so long as it is conveneint? :)

SO far the thread has been focused on fornication.. for good or bad.. rather than the relationship with God. We are not to take our eyes off of the Lord. Looking at fornication is taking your eyes off the Lord.

That is the truth.

And I think in the case of non-believers:

You should not engage in behavior that risks pregnancy and disease, and also can potentially put emotional strain on yourself and others around you; something that can easily create stress or put you into a position where you can be victimized.

Agreed - that´s why there are precautions taken.

and also can potentially put emotional strain on yourself and others around you; something that can easily create stress or put you into a position where you can be victimized.
In my experience every human interaction can potentially put emotional strain on some of the persons involved.
I think the conclusion that we therefore should avoid such human interactions altogether is pouring out the baby with the bathwater.
I understand why some people with a particular emotional make up might need to go that far, but that´s not for everybody.

Sex inside of marraige risks that (diseases can be caught non-sexually but still passed sexually). And sex outside of marraige can dramatically reduce the chances of that by using protection, being selective about your partner, and getting tested regularly.

and also can potentially put emotional strain on yourself and others around you
If you are irresponsible.

something that can easily create stress or put you into a position where you can be victimized.
Which can happen if you have sex or not and can be prevented by taking certain safety measures.

Again, I started having sex at 14 and I'm still going now. I think after an initial scare I started making better choices with regard to sex and I have suffered no deleterious effects from starting that young.

Suppose that could be because that's what the OP is about?

So are you saying that one shouldn't talk about grilling chicken or their golf game because it isn't about the relationship with God? That one unnecessarily takes their eyes off the lord when talking about chicken preparation, or putting?
