Because the curvature of the earth means the sun appears lower in the sky from Chile, meaning it will drop below the horizon at night. At this time of year, because of the earth’s tilt, the further north you go, the more the earth’s curve affects the elevation of the sun in the sky, making it lower in the sky.

There was 17 hours of sun where they stayed before flying to Antarctica.

Still, why shouldn't there be a 24 hour sun say in Chili for instance , it's close enough.

Here is a screenshot of a YouTube video which shows how Antarctica is in full sunlight (and remains so as the earth rotates) but Chile is in darkness. As the earth rotates, the sun will rise over Chile and then set again, but it stays above the horizon in Antarctica during the summer there.

Also note, the Arctic is in darkness 24 hours a day with no sun at all at the same time that Antarctica has 24 hour sun.

This is why the rotating and tilted globe earth orbiting the sun explains the seasons and the 24 hour sun/24 hour darkness easily, while flat earth believers struggle to make any sense and fall over themselves to come up with wild and fanciful notions with absolutely no evidence.

You can't even admit that the evidence shows you are wrong.

The bottom line is that, several threads back, you said that nothing will make you accept the earth is a globe.
You then seemed to amend that statement and said that if Dean Odel went on this free trip, came back and said, "I was wrong; the earth is a globe" you would believe him. So, either you would throw away a long-held belief because Dean told you to, or you mean that not even Dean Odel could make you accept a globe earth.

But having made that firm, clear statement, i) if anyone posts photos or evidence you have to deny it, denounce it as fake or come up with some ridiculous "explanations, and ii) you are simply wasting forum space, and everybody's time, but saying "where's the evidence?" "prove it to me."
People do prove it to you- but you have no intention of accepting what they/we say because you have already decided that nothing will make you accept a globe earth.

I hope it does. I really do. But you’ve said similar in the past, and then done an about turn & became even more entrenched in flat earth with nothing more than an “I know it’s flat” type statement.

So my hopes are very faint right now!
